internex GmbH is an Austrian business hosting and managed infrastructure provider founded in 2005 by Markus Böhm, who remains managing director and sole shareholder. The company started with domain and hosting services, expanded with its first company building in Lower Austria in 2011, added a Vienna location in 2014, developed its own backbone infrastructure from 2017, and interconnected data center locations through its own dark-fiber infrastructure in 2018. A major platform and brand modernization followed in 2024. Internex now serves business customers and partners in more than 80 countries.

The portfolio has developed far beyond traditional shared hosting. Internex combines domains, email, web hosting, VPS, root servers, dedicated servers, managed application hosting, managed servers, clusters, cloud infrastructure, security services and specialized application platforms. The company is also ISO 27001 certified, making the service particularly relevant for organizations with stricter security, compliance and business-continuity requirements.

Traditional Webhosting remains available for customers that do not need an isolated server environment. These plans include PHP, email, DNS and domain administration, MySQL databases on applicable packages, FTP/SFTP access, SSL-secured administration, selectable PHP versions, spam and virus filtering, backups and redundant network connectivity. Higher plans increase storage and support capabilities, while unlimited traffic is included where specified.

The Linux vServer and KVM VPS ranges cover inexpensive self-managed virtual infrastructure. Standard vServers provide configurations with 2 to 8 CPU cores, cRAM and 20 to 80 GB of storage, while the KVM series provides fully virtualized environments suitable for Docker and other workloads that need stronger isolation. These products are unmanaged, so operating-system maintenance, server security, application administration and independent backup planning remain the customer's responsibility.

The current vServer and KVM plans use a 24-month minimum contract period. Their low monthly prices are therefore attractive for customers comfortable with a longer commitment, but less suitable for temporary projects that require month-to-month flexibility.

At the physical-server level, Dell Dedicated Servers use Dell PowerEdge hardware with configurable storage, RAID and redundant power options. Customers can select SATA, SAS or SSD storage depending on the workload. Hardware assistance is available around the clock through data center technicians, making the platform suitable for business applications requiring dedicated hardware rather than shared virtualization.

The strongest part of Internex's current portfolio is its managed infrastructure ecosystem. Managed App Space provides an application-ready hosting environment with preconfigured software, development environments, backups and scalable resources. Managed Server transfers much more operational responsibility to Internex, including configuration, software maintenance, security updates, monitoring, backups and disaster recovery.

Specialized managed servers are available for WordPress, webshops, applications, Microsoft Windows environments, terminal and remote-desktop workloads, and reseller hosting. This allows companies to select infrastructure around the application rather than maintaining a generic server platform themselves.

Managed Cluster serves workloads that require redundancy and higher availability, while Managed Cloud is suitable for private and customized managed cloud environments. Cloud projects can include planning, proof-of-concept work, implementation and ongoing operation. These services are aimed primarily at enterprises, agencies, e-commerce operators and companies that need professional infrastructure administration without maintaining their own 24/7 operations team.

Managed WordPress combines managed infrastructure with WordPress Studio, staging and cloning, automated backups, SSL, multisite functionality and optional CDN integration. It is available on hosting, managed server and enterprise cluster architectures, allowing WordPress projects to scale without changing the overall service ecosystem.

Managed WooCommerce, Managed Shopware and Managed Magento follow the same approach for online stores. They combine Austrian-hosted infrastructure, monitoring, backup and managed administration with architectures designed for demanding e-commerce workloads. These services are more appropriate for stores that depend on performance and operational stability than for small hobby shops looking only for the lowest hosting cost.

Managed Nextcloud provides dedicated infrastructure for file synchronization, collaboration, calendars and office functions. Collabora Online integration is available, making the service suitable for organizations looking for a GDPR-oriented collaboration environment hosted in Austria.

Internex also provides several specialized DevOps and application platforms.
