📄 Editorial Review

Illuminated Hosting is a U.S. web hosting, cloud, and infrastructure provider based in Vista, California, with operations dating back to 1997. The business operates as Illuminated Hosting Services, LLC and is associated with Pixeled Business Systems, Inc., founded in 1997 by David Morris, who has served as founder and CEO. This gives the company a considerably longer operating history than many smaller independent hosting providers.

The service portfolio extends well beyond conventional shared hosting and includes Web Hosting, Managed WordPress Hosting, Cloud VPS, Dedicated Servers, Colocation, Private Cloud, Hybrid Cloud, Remote Backup, Managed Services, and Domain Registration. Support for Adobe ColdFusion, Lucee, ASP, .NET, JSP, PHP, Node.js, Python, and WordPress is particularly notable. This combination can suit both modern websites and businesses still maintaining specialized or legacy applications.

The Web Hosting range is divided into Ultra Basic, Basic, Standard, and Advanced plans. Ultra Basic includes 500 MB of storage, 300 GB monthly transfer, ten POP mailboxes, unlimited forwarding accounts, ColdFusion/Lucee, PHP, ASP, .NET, and JSP support, together with one-click application installation. Larger plans increase storage, bandwidth, and email capacity and add Site Builder Pro. The hosting platform includes SSD storage, server-side caching, CDN integration, SSL certificates, DDoS protection, malware scanning, a web application firewall, and daily backups. Backup retention reaches 30 days, with off-site storage and file-level recovery.

Managed WordPress Hosting adds WordPress updates, security monitoring, and daily backups. The package is more service-oriented than storage-oriented, with only 500 MB of disk space, so customers planning larger WordPress installations should check resource requirements carefully.

The Cloud VPS range uses Linux and provides full root access. Configurations begin with only 256 MB RAM and continue through 512 MB and 768 MB plans, while ADV3 includes 2 GB RAM and ADV4 provides 4 GB RAM. The two larger VPS packages include Plesk. These resource allocations are modest by current VPS standards, particularly for modern CMS platforms, databases, and application stacks, so the smaller configurations are better suited to lightweight workloads.

The Dedicated Server range starts with dual-core systems and 4 GB RAM and extends to considerably larger configurations with multiple processors, RAID storage, and as much as 128 GB RAM. Dedicated systems include root access, operating-system customization, remote reboot, and IPMI access. Intel Xeon processors, NVMe SSD storage, ECC memory, RAID configurations, IPv4 and IPv6 connectivity, DDoS mitigation, firewall protection, monitoring, and multi-carrier connectivity are available depending on the server configuration.

Colocation is another substantial part of the business. Standard options include 1U, 2U, and 4U deployments, with custom configurations available for larger installations. Infrastructure includes N+1 power redundancy, UPS systems, diesel generators, multiple power feeds, precision cooling, environmental monitoring, BGP routing, cross-connects, DDoS protection, biometric access, CCTV surveillance, mantrap access, and 24/7 remote hands. Remote-hands assistance covers tasks such as server reboots, cable work, equipment inspection, and component replacement.

The Private Cloud and Hybrid Cloud services are designed for larger or more specialized deployments and include scalable compute resources, load balancing, SSD storage, encryption, multi-factor authentication, API integration, and monitoring. Technologies used across these environments include CloudStack, Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and OpenStack.

Remote Backup provides scheduled off-site backups, encrypted storage, point-in-time recovery, monitoring, verification, and rapid restoration. AES-256 encryption is used for backup protection. The related Managed Services portfolio covers server monitoring, security management, firewall administration, software patching, backup management, database optimization, mail-server administration, and intrusion detection.

Domain services include registration, renewal, DNS administration, and domain transfer assistance. Prices begin at approximately $15 per year.

The company owns and operates its server and networking equipment instead of functioning purely as a hosting reseller. The service is primarily aimed at English-speaking customers, with pricing in U.S. dollars.

There are several inconsistencies worth checking before ordering. The main hosting offer mentions prices from $8 per month, while the detailed shared-hosting plans begin at $10 per month. Rackmount solutions are also referenced from $75 in one area, while current standard colocation packages begin considerably higher. The legal naming varies between Illuminated Hosting Services, LLC, Pixeled Business Systems, Inc., and Illuminated Systems, Inc. Customers placing larger infrastructure orders should therefore confirm the contracting entity, exact package specifications, and final quotation.
