📄 Editorial Review

HyperFilter is a specialized DDoS protection, hosting, and network-security provider operated by FNX Tecnologia LTDA, also known as FNXTEC. Its DDoS engineering activity dates back to 2011, giving it a long history in a field where many hosting companies added mitigation only later as an additional service. The company is much more focused on keeping Internet-facing infrastructure reachable during attacks than on competing as a conventional low-cost hosting provider.

The protection platform works in an Always On model, keeping filtering continuously active instead of waiting for an attack before redirecting traffic. Layer 3 and Layer 4 attacks are handled at network level, while Layer 7 protection is also available for websites and web applications. Protection capacity reaches 2,000 Gbps / 2 Tbps on several services, with attack reports, application-aware filtering, customized rules and protection profiles for workloads such as games, DNS, SIP and voice applications.

Dedicated Servers are among the most interesting services. The server range combines ASRock, Dell and HPE/HP hardware, including newer AMD Ryzen 9 9900X3D, AMD EPYC 4465P and AMD EPYC 7763 configurations. Systems can reach 512 GB RAM, SSD or NVMe storage and 1 or 2 Gbps connectivity depending on the configuration. DDoS protection is available up to 2 Tbps, while custom filtering can be adapted to games, voice applications and other attack-sensitive services. Windows is also available on supported configurations without an additional license fee. Normal provisioning is within several days rather than instant deployment.

DDoS Protected Web Hosting combines traditional Linux shared hosting with the same security-oriented infrastructure. Packages range from smaller 5 GB accounts up to 75 GB storage, while monthly traffic allowances run from 100 GB to 5 TB. Resources are assigned by package rather than hidden behind an unlimited-use policy, making CPU and memory limits easier to understand. The hosting environment includes cPanel, CloudLinux, KernelCare, multiple PHP versions, unlimited domains and subdomains, FTP accounts, email accounts and MySQL databases. MSSQL support is also included in the hosting specifications. Free migration from another cPanel account is available, and AutoSSL handles free SSL certificate installation.

HWP – Hyper Web Protection provides remote protection for websites that remain hosted elsewhere. A protected HyperFilter IP sits in front of the origin server, receives incoming traffic first and forwards legitimate requests to the real website. This makes it possible to use HyperFilter's network without migrating the actual hosting environment. Standard, Advanced and Professional packages include 10 TB, 20 TB and 30 TB of clean traffic, together with two, four or eight load balancers and SSL support for increasing numbers of domains. SuperCache and Layer 7 GET/POST filtering are also part of the service.

HPP – Hyper Protected Port applies the same remote-protection concept to TCP applications rather than conventional websites. It can protect services such as game servers, FTP, mail and other client/server applications by placing a filtered public IP in front of the original server. Packages include 10 TB, 20 TB or 30 TB of clean traffic and are available through Amsterdam and São Paulo. HPP is intended for application traffic and therefore differs from HWP, which also includes website-oriented Layer 7 filtering.

HTS – Network Protection is aimed at ISPs, hosting companies, MSPs, IaaS operators and other businesses that need to protect complete IP networks. Traffic can be redirected through HyperFilter by GRE/L2 connectivity and BGP, cleaned inside the mitigation network and then delivered to the customer's infrastructure. The service includes statistics, graphs, alerts and logs together with filtering for TCP floods, UDP and ICMP abuse, ARP floods and port-scan attacks. Setup is free, while pricing is customized according to network size and protection requirements.

Colocation is available in Amsterdam, starting from 1U rack space with protected connectivity of 1 Gbps or higher. The general colocation specification reaches 500 Gbps of protection, while more detailed technical limits have also been listed at 200 Gbps / 88 Mpps per protected IP. High-risk customers should therefore establish the precise mitigation commitment for their individual deployment when ordering.

Domain registration is available through the customer management system. HyperFilter also introduced DDoS-protected Cloud Servers, including SATA and SSD virtual-server configurations. Cloud infrastructure remains part of the wider service portfolio, although dedicated servers and remote DDoS protection now receive much more detailed configuration and pricing information. Layer 2 and Layer 3 network services and IP transit are also part of the company's broader network offering.

An affiliate program is available with 10% recurring monthly commission while the referred customer keeps the service active. Withdrawals become available after the first customer renewal and require a minimum accumulated amount of EUR 250.

The company works in English, while newer HyperFilter interfaces also support Portuguese. The main website still retains some characteristics of an older desktop-oriented hosting site, and information from different generations of the service catalog remains mixed together. The newer interface is more modern, while the dedicated-server range has clearly continued to receive hardware updates. For highly customized services such as colocation, HTS and high-capacity DDoS protection, final technical limits are best established as part of the commercial agreement.

😠 I would like to share my experience with these company that I'm sure it can be useful for anyone considering to get Hyperfilter DDoS protection.

We started using their DDoS protection as per recommendation, we used it for our game server after to get protected from minor DDos attacks on digital ocean that we were unable to stop due our lack of knowledge about iptables, and ddos mitigation mainly.

We have to admit that to it works to stop amateur attacks that don't exceed 200MBPS, perhaps up to 500MBPS, they do "ok". You will still experience lags and it will impact your players many times, but otherwise the protection works fine and some attacks also go unnoticed.

First of all, since we started using this service, quite a few players experienced random disconnections and lags, and sometimes even massive disconnects of 10-100 people, happening almost every week for no apparent reason, presumably we were being impacted by other attacks. Sometimes they would detect "random false positives" and kick legit players, banning the IPs for 1 hour for no reason, etc.

Overall, a bit annoying, but bearable as per the nature of the service and mostly considering is supposed to be there to protect you in the event of a real threat... or not.

However, the best part was when we got hit by a proper DDoS attack, it reached up to 60GBPS and even though we had protection of up to 100GBPS, our server did not survive sadly. Not only that, they also blocked access to the IP of our machine, because "the attack was so strong that it was impacting their infrastructure". They claimed the attack was 600+GBPS (if that was true, it would be among the top 10 world largest DDoS attacks in history, which is beyond ridiculous considering we are a humble game server of 2k players on peak), despite their monitoring tool was showing the size as 60GBPS, and despite we later on found out about the attacker and he admitted he sent around 50GBPS. Still, they used that as an excuse to literally kick us off, saying they cannot provide service to us as it's too risky for them to host us.

Yes, that's right, a company whose business is protecting from DDoS attacks rejected us as customers becase we got attacked.
They blocked us from accessing to our machine and but thankfully we had a secondary IP that was working after attacks has stopped and they said it was OK to use it. However, the next day, they shut it down without notice, leaving us completely helpless with a downtime in our services for no justified reason.

Their support is extremely rude and totally unsupportive in the event of a crisis, but very cooperative when they want to sell you an of their extra features.

Basically they are a great DDoS protection service as long as you don't get any kind of attacks (you could achieve the same with proper iptables, cloudflare, etc.), but if you have any real DDoS attacks, I'd advise you to avoid them at all costs and find an alternative. You will save your money, your time and a lot of headaches.

I can provide proof and details of all above said, just ask if you need any more details.

I hope this helps.
