Hostex.lt was a Lithuanian web hosting, domain and data center provider from Vilnius, active as an independent hosting brand before becoming part of the larger Lithuanian telecom and IT-services ecosystem. The business history goes back to 1995, with Pranas Slušnys connected to Hostex as founder / long-time company leader in several company-profile references. The company later moved under Baltic Data Center after the 2010 acquisition, when Baltic Data Center, a subsidiary of TEO LT, bought UAB Hostex. At that time, Hostex had around 20 employees.

Hostex stopped existing as a separate hosting company after the group consolidation. In 2015, Hostex and Hosting were merged into Baltic Data Centre, and in 2017 the wider TEO / Omnitel / Baltic Data Center group became Telia Lietuva. Hostex.lt later became part of the Telia Hosting environment, while the original Hostex.lt brand became inactive as a standalone web hosting provider.

During its active period, Hostex was a serious Lithuanian hosting brand rather than a basic budget reseller. Their portfolio included Shared Hosting, Linux and Windows hosting, Domains, Email Hosting, SSL Certificates, Virtual Dedicated Servers, Managed Hosting, Data Center Services, and custom infrastructure services. This made Hostex suitable for local businesses, agencies, developers, Lithuanian websites and regional projects that preferred hosting close to the Baltic market.

The hosting service was built around practical management and security. Typical functions included domains, DNS, FTP access, databases, email boxes, webmail, SSL, WordPress tools, website statistics, backups, PHP version management, spam filtering and multi-factor authentication in the customer area. The platform also supported Apache, MariaDB databases and modern PHP versions, which made it suitable for WordPress, business websites and common CMS projects.

Security was one of the better parts of the Hostex offer. Hosting accounts included Let’s Encrypt SSL, HTTPS activation, email spam filtering, SPF-style mail protection, antivirus / malware-oriented website protection, backup options and tools for archiving website files and databases. Hostex was not a loud international brand, but it had a stable Lithuanian infrastructure profile and later benefited from the Baltic Data Center / Telia background.
