HosterBox is a Canadian web hosting provider established in May 2005 in Ottawa, Ontario, giving the business more than two decades of operating history. Its legal documentation uses both Hosterbox Inc. and Internet Gigabit Exchange (Hosterbox), with the latter identified in the Terms of Service as an Ontario incorporation.

The service range is broad enough for both entry-level websites and customers needing their own virtual or physical server. The main portfolio includes Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting, KVM VPS, Dedicated Servers, E-Commerce Hosting, Managed WordPress Hosting, OpenCart Hosting and domain registration. Crypto-friendly hosting is another distinctive part of the business, with Bitcoin, Ethereum and more than 150 cryptocurrencies accepted for domains, shared hosting, VPS, reseller hosting and dedicated servers.

Shared Hosting is divided into Start, Grow and Ultimate packages. Start includes 25 GB storage, 250 GB bandwidth, 10 email accounts, a free lifetime domain and free SSL. Grow increases this to 50 GB storage and 500 GB transfer, while Ultimate includes unlimited storage, bandwidth, addon domains and email accounts together with a dedicated IP. Current shared-hosting features include cPanel, Apache, daily/weekly/monthly backups, one-click application installation, CloudLinux PHP Selector, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Ruby and Python support. PHP selection currently extends through PHP 8.3.

Reseller Hosting uses Bronze, Silver and Gold tiers with 35 GB to 75 GB disk space and 350 GB to 1 TB monthly bandwidth. Accounts include cPanel/WHM, Softaculous, unlimited addon domains and no setup fee. Reseller infrastructure also includes nightly backups, secondary DNS, backup mail systems, UPS and generator protection.

KVM VPS Hosting starts with 512 MB RAM, 20 GB storage and 1 TB bandwidth, scaling through several packages to 3 GB RAM, 200 GB storage and 4 TB bandwidth. VPS customers receive full root access, snapshots, an IP address and operating-system choice. Control-panel options include cPanel, Plesk and DirectAdmin, giving considerably more flexibility than the fixed shared-hosting environment. DDoS protection is included.

The Dedicated Server range covers both Canadian and U.S. configurations. Hardware currently includes older dual-Xeon systems as well as Xeon E3 servers, with SATA or SSD storage, up to 32 GB RAM on the listed configurations, several included IP addresses and uplinks as high as 1 Gbps on the pricing table. The dedicated-server heading also references 10 Gbps uplinks and DDoS protection, although individual listed configurations vary.

For online stores, E-Commerce Hosting combines unlimited hosting, a domain, dedicated IP, SSL certificate, shopping-cart support and payment-gateway capability. WordPress and OpenCart users can instead use dedicated CMS-oriented configurations starting at the shared-hosting price level. WordPress management includes automatic updates, backups, security monitoring and Softaculous deployment, while OpenCart receives optimized database/application hosting plus firewall and ModSecurity protection. Integration with Cloudflare is also available.

The application installer covers more than 350 applications and frameworks, including WordPress, PrestaShop, Drupal, Joomla, Magento, AbanteCart and phpBB, plus frameworks such as Bootstrap, CakePHP and CodeIgniter. Free website migration assistance is another useful feature for customers moving from another provider.

Crypto payments are unusually extensive for a conventional Canadian host. Bitcoin transactions can use BitPay or CoinPayments, and the current crypto offering covers 150+ cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin and Ethereum hosting promotions currently provide a 20% discount, while privacy-respecting account setup can be arranged through support.

One weakness is that not all company documentation has been synchronized. Current hosting specifications cover PHP through 8.3 and newer hosting configurations, but the SLA and Privacy Policy still carry an August 30, 2017 update date. There are also differences between summary information and detailed product data: the homepage still contains older shared-hosting specifications and a 99.9% uptime statement, while the contractual SLA and current product catalog use 99.99%.
