📄 Editorial Review

Host.al is an Albanian domain registrar, web hosting provider, and infrastructure operator based in Tirana, Albania. The present Host.AL SH.P.K. legal entity was incorporated on November 6, 2018, with Armand Brahaj as its original sole shareholder. The hosting activity itself has a longer history, with more than two decades of experience associated with the business and its team.

The ownership history is more eventful than that of most local hosting companies. In February 2019, Armand Brahaj, Julia Hoxha, and SHQIPERIACOM transferred 100% of Host.AL to Papaki Internet Services for €250,000. Papaki subsequently became part of ENARTIA. On June 27, 2023, ENARTIA sold the entire company to New Ventures SHPK (newventures.al), returning Host.al to Albanian ownership. In August 2024, New Ventures transferred a 20% stake to Arbër Brahaj. New Ventures currently owns 80%, while Arbër Brahaj owns 20% and serves as administrator. Armand Brahaj is the beneficial owner behind New Ventures.

Host.al has become an important participant in Albania's domain market. The company operates with a small local team and controls a substantial share of the .al domain registration market, while more than 15,000 online presences use its services. Host.al is accredited by Albania's AKEP for .al domains, and registrar operations were expanded internationally through ICANN-accredited sister company Zana Tech Inc. in 2025. Host.al also achieved ISO 27001:2022 certification in March 2025.

Domain registration remains one of its central services. Customers can register .al, .com.al, .net.al, .org.al, .edu.al and numerous international extensions, transfer existing domains, renew registrations and manage DNS records. International individuals and companies can register standard .al domains without Albanian residence, while restricted second-level extensions such as .com.al, .net.al, .org.al and .edu.al require the corresponding Albanian legal status and documentation.

The shared hosting portfolio consists of Starter Pack, Vetem, Mercury, Earth and Mars packages. Vetem includes 300 MB storage and 5 GB bandwidth, Mercury increases storage to 1 GB, Earth provides 10 GB storage and 100 GB traffic, while Mars provides 100 GB storage and 200 GB traffic. The paid plans include email accounts, technical support and Plesk administration, with progressively larger CPU, memory, I/O and process allocations.

The Starter Pack provides a practical entry point for very small sites. It is free for the first year and includes 100 MB storage, one database of up to 20 MB, 1 GB monthly traffic, one mailbox, Plesk and one-click WordPress installation. Customers that need more resources must upgrade after the first year.

Managed Hosting adds 24/7 monitoring, DDoS protection, managed updates, backups, migration assistance and technical administration. The hosting platform supports more than 125 applications, including WordPress, Drupal and Joomla. Shared plans include weekly automatic backups, while more actively managed infrastructure can use more frequent backup schedules.

The VPS Tirana service is particularly relevant for businesses that need virtual servers physically located in Albania. Plans start with 1 vCore, 1 GB RAM and 10 GB storage and scale to 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM and 80 GB SSD. The infrastructure uses Dell and HP server hardware, SSD storage, IPv4 connectivity, operating-system templates and support for custom ISO installations. VPS infrastructure connects through 10 Gbps ports and carries a 99.99% uptime level.

The newer AMD VPS range offers considerably higher resource allocations. EPC packages scale from 4 vCores, 8 GB RAM and 30 GB SSD to 24 vCores, 96 GB RAM and 250 GB SSD. Included capabilities cover anti-DDoS protection, automatic daily backups, unlimited bandwidth and network connectivity reaching 1 Gbps. These packages are suitable for application hosting, development environments, databases and memory-intensive workloads as well as conventional websites.

Dedicated servers are available in Tirana using Dell PowerEdge R640 hardware. Current TIRAN configurations use dual Intel Xeon Gold 6152 processors, 64 GB DDR4 RAM and dual 512 GB hot-swap SSDs. The entry configuration provides a 100 Mbps port and 30 TB monthly transfer, while larger plans use 10 Gbps ports with 150 TB or 500 TB traffic allowances. TIRAN-2 and TIRAN-3 include Virtualmin GPL.

The customer system also contains dedicated-server categories for Skopje, North Macedonia, the United States and Germany, together with US VPS services, although Tirana is the main focus of the newer infrastructure portfolio.

Host.al also offers Database Hosting for MySQL and PostgreSQL, with MongoDB included at the higher end of the range. Plans scale from 10 GB storage with weekly backups to 200 GB storage, 8 GB RAM and hourly backups.

Exchange Hosting provides Microsoft Exchange email hosted through Microsoft Azure. The service includes Outlook Web access, mobile synchronization and a 99.9% uptime guarantee.

Additional products include SSL certificates, Anycast DNS, secondary DNS, WordPress development, website development, application development and Node.js hosting. The Node.js environment uses Coolify with Git-based deployment, automated builds, database provisioning, custom domains and SSL support.

Development services extend into fintech, logistics, CRM and ERP systems, e-commerce, mobile applications and cloud infrastructure. Development packages can also combine hosting, domains, email configuration, monitoring and backups, making Host.al broader than a conventional domain registrar with basic shared hosting.

The main website is available in Albanian and English. The client portal supports a much larger selection of languages, including Albanian, Arabic, Azerbaijani, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Persian, French, German, Hebrew, Hungarian, Italian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian. Product prices can be displayed in EUR, Albanian lek (ALL) and US dollars (USD).
