The company was officially founded in 2008 by electronics engineer George Sgouridis, although its technical roots extend back to BBS operations in the late 1980s, fiber-optic infrastructure projects during the 1990s and participation in early Internet network hubs around Volos and Larissa.

A major development came in 2018, when Friktoria designed and constructed its privately owned FRK01VOL Tier-III-design data center in Central Greece. This gives the company direct control over its local infrastructure, network architecture and technical operations. Friktoria also maintains its own IP resources and operates the AS204932 autonomous network.

Friktoria operates as a brand of Monosandalos Group PLC, while the contractual business entity is FRIKTORIA – George Sgouridis Electronics Engineer. The company is registered with the Hellenic Telecommunications and Post Commission under registry number 11-119 and is a RIPE NCC member with its own IPv4 and IPv6 resources.

Its service portfolio is significantly broader than standard shared hosting.
