FirstByte is a budget-focused infrastructure provider with a particularly extensive range of virtual servers. The FirstByte brand has operated since 2015, while First Server Limited was incorporated in the United Kingdom on November 3, 2022. The UK company is directed and controlled by Iurii Bogdanov.

The legal identity behind an order deserves attention. The English contact section identifies First Server Limited in the United Kingdom, while the service agreement names Russian sole proprietor Bogdanov A.A. Customers ordering long-term or business-critical infrastructure should confirm which legal entity will issue the invoice and assume contractual responsibility.

The main service is KVM VPS/VDS hosting, available in Moscow, Helsinki, Paris, Sofia, Madrid, Frankfurt, Amsterdam, New York, and Singapore. The Moscow range includes SSD-based KVM servers, lower-cost SAS storage with SSD caching, and Business VDS configurations intended for applications that require sustained CPU and memory resources.

Business VDS is the more suitable choice for databases, continuous processing, resource-intensive applications, and workloads that regularly consume a full processor core. Standard entry-level VPS plans are better suited to development environments, small websites, VPN services, monitoring systems, lightweight applications, and personal projects.

KVM customers receive isolated virtual machines with root access, operating-system reinstallation, VNC console access, custom ISO support, reverse DNS management, and free DNS hosting. One IPv4 address and one IPv6 address are normally included.

Moscow SSD configurations use distributed Ceph storage. Regional VPS plans generally use SSD storage and include traffic allowances ranging from several terabytes to 10 TB. Connection speeds commonly range between 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps, depending on the location and tariff.

DDoS protection varies by region. Moscow plans include Layer 3 and Layer 4 filtering, while several European locations include basic network protection. Helsinki, New York, and Singapore mainly use blackhole routing when an attack is detected. This arrangement is sufficient for ordinary websites and development servers, although frequently attacked projects should confirm filtering capacity and mitigation limits before ordering.

Shared Hosting is available through three uncomplicated packages. These plans include SSD storage, MySQL databases, email, FTP access, cron jobs, and support for multiple websites. Websites, domains, mailboxes, FTP accounts, and MySQL databases are unrestricted by quantity, although the CPU, process, memory, and disk limits determine the actual capacity of each account.

The Dedicated Server range includes Intel Xeon E3, E3v5, dual E5620/E5645, dual E5, and storage-oriented configurations. Available features include ECC memory, HDD and SSD storage, IPMI or IP-KVM with virtual media, 100 Mbps connectivity, optional 1 Gbps ports, extra IPv4 addresses, customer IP announcements, and installation without a setup fee.

Availability differs between dedicated-server families. Some E5 and storage configurations remain in the service range but require confirmation before payment. This is particularly important for customers requiring a specific processor generation, storage layout, or deployment schedule.

Storage servers include configurations with approximately 22 TB and 44 TB of usable RAID-5 capacity. These systems are intended primarily for backups, archives, media collections, and large datasets rather than latency-sensitive databases or high-I/O applications.

Additional services include DNS hosting, FTP backup storage, software licenses, SSL certificates, domain registration, and paid server administration. DNS hosting is one of the stronger supplementary services, using three geographically separated name servers and DNSmanager 5.

FTP backup packages range from 30 GB to 2 TB. The packages remain visible but are temporarily unavailable for new orders. Domain registration is also included in the broader service structure but is not yet available as a fully active product.

The software catalog includes ispmanager 6, cPanel, CloudLinux, and Windows Server licenses. ispmanager 6 Lite and Pro have clear monthly pricing, while several other license options require availability and price confirmation.

SSL products include single-domain, wildcard, and extended-validation certificates. These certificates can be ordered separately from the hosting service.

FirstByte provides an English-language website and a separate Russian version at firstbyte.ru. The English interface remains functional but uses an older desktop-oriented design. Localization is inconsistent in several areas, with prices mainly displayed in euros while some legal clauses, older packages, and billing references still use rubles or point toward the Russian billing environment.

Some sections also contain obsolete operating-system names, older PHP versions, and conflicting availability details. The legal area relies on cookie notices and personal-data consent fields rather than a clearly separated privacy-policy page.
