Exascale is a privately owned British telecommunications, network infrastructure and hosting provider with roots going back to 2009. The operating company, Exascale Limited, was incorporated on January 8, 2010 under company number 07120266, originally as Oxide Technologies Limited before adopting the Exascale Limited name in July 2012. Thomas Anthony Bibb has been a director since incorporation and controls at least 75% of the company. The business is headquartered in Telford, Shropshire, and has grown from traditional hosting into a considerably broader ISP and fibre-network operation.The modern Exascale business is centered primarily on Full Fibre Broadband, Business Broadband, Business Full Fibre, Dedicated Internet Access, Leased Lines, IP Transit, Remote Peering, Wholesale Broadband, private network connectivity, VoIP, call forwarding and Colocation. Alongside these services, Exascale continues to maintain a traditional hosting portfolio covering Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting, VPS, Dedicated Servers, Mac Dedicated Servers, Domains, SSL certificates and Hosted Exchange.
Residential connectivity combines Exascale's own network with infrastructure from CityFibre (cityfibre.com), Gigaclear (gigaclear.com) and Openreach (openreach.co.uk), giving the company substantially wider UK coverage than its own regional fibre footprint alone. Full-fibre services reach multi-gigabit speeds, including packages of up to 2.5 Gbps, while Exascale continues expanding fibre infrastructure around Telford, Wolverhampton and surrounding areas.
Its own fibre design uses technologies including xPON and CWDM. This makes it possible to deliver PON broadband, dedicated Ethernet and wavelength services across common fibre infrastructure while still providing higher-capacity dedicated connections where required. Dedicated Ethernet and wavelength services can reach up to 100 Gbps, making the network suitable not only for ordinary broadband but also for enterprise and carrier applications.
SoGEA Broadband is available for businesses that need a fixed Internet connection without a traditional telephone service. Speeds reach approximately 80 Mbps downstream and 20 Mbps upstream, with a static IP address, unlimited usage and no traffic-management or fair-use restriction. It provides a relatively straightforward business option where full fibre is unavailable or where leased-line capacity would be excessive.
Business Full Fibre moves further toward enterprise connectivity, with symmetrical managed connections beginning around 100 Mbps and scaling into much faster configurations. These services are particularly suitable for offices that require predictable upload performance, cloud access, VPN connectivity, hosted applications or VoIP without moving immediately to a dedicated leased line.
Leased Lines provide dedicated symmetrical capacity for more demanding organizations. They are suitable for business-critical connectivity, hosted infrastructure, large data transfers, private networking and VoIP, with available bandwidth extending into multi-gigabit territory. Selected leased-line and business Internet products are backed by a 100% business SLA.
Exascale's networking capabilities become much more distinctive with IP Transit. The company operates AS61049 and supports IPv4 and IPv6, BGP or static routing, full routing tables, partial routes or default-route delivery, IRR-based customer resources and automated prefix filtering. Customer ports can reach 400 Gbps, while LAG configurations allow multiple physical interfaces to be combined where larger capacity or additional resilience is required.
Every major Exascale point of presence is designed with at least two 100 Gbps uplinks into the backbone, and the network is engineered with significant spare capacity rather than being run continuously near saturation. Contract periods for larger transit deployments generally range from 12 to 60 months.
Remote Peering allows customers to access major European Internet exchanges without establishing their own physical presence at every exchange location. Connectivity can be delivered through local data-center cross-connects or Layer 2 transport, giving ISPs and larger networks a practical way to increase direct peering while reducing dependence on conventional paid transit.
The combination of route-server participation and bilateral peering gives Exascale direct access to a substantial portion of Internet destinations. For latency-sensitive traffic, content delivery and ISP networks, this can produce shorter paths than routing everything through a small number of upstream carriers.
The Wholesale Broadband platform is aimed at ISPs, MSPs and telecommunications resellers. It includes wholesale FTTP, Layer 2 and Layer 3 delivery, L2TP handoff and both on-net and off-net connectivity. Private WANs can also be built using MPLS and VRFs, while resellers can operate their own authentication realms.
Generic Ethernet Access provides private Ethernet connectivity between customer premises, Exascale infrastructure and other network services. It can be used for centralized Internet access, private office interconnection, hosted firewall deployment and managed or unmanaged network designs.
Voice services include hosted VoIP, call queues, voicemail-to-email, call groups, forwarding, call logging, address books, automated device provisioning and API integration. Call Forwarding adds local, national and freephone numbers, number porting and packages containing bundled forwarding minutes.
Traditional Shared Hosting remains available in WordPress, Lite, Start Up and Ultimate configurations. Storage allowances range from approximately 500 MB to 20 GB depending on package. Larger packages include multiple websites, substantial monthly transfer allocations, email accounts, FTP access and MySQL databases.
The Ultimate shared package provides 20 GB of web space, 100 GB of monthly transfer, hosting for three websites, unlimited email accounts and unlimited MySQL databases. PHP, Perl, CGI, Python and Ruby are supported, and several packages include a free UK domain.
Reseller Hosting is available in Professional and Ultimate configurations. The Professional package provides approximately 25 GB of storage and 750 GB of monthly transfer for up to 50 hosting accounts, while Ultimate increases this to around 100 GB storage and 2 TB transfer with unlimited hosted accounts. Both include extensive email, FTP, subdomain and MySQL allowances.
The VPS range spans configurations with approximately one to six CPU cores, 1–6 GB of DDR3 RAM, RAID-10 storage and IPv4/IPv6 connectivity. Some of these configurations belong clearly to an older generation of the Exascale hosting platform. Options such as CentOS 5, CentOS 6 and Windows Server 2012, together with DDR3 host specifications, make these plans much less modern than the company's fibre and carrier-network products.
The same applies to parts of the Dedicated Server range. Configurations include older Dell PowerEdge systems, Intel Core i3 processors, Xeon E3 and Xeon E5 hardware, SATA or 10K SAS storage, RAID, KVM-over-IP access, IPv4/IPv6 and APC-controlled remote reboot functionality. The hardware can still be useful for inexpensive dedicated workloads, but customers needing recent-generation CPUs, NVMe storage or high core density should confirm the exact configuration before purchase.
Mac Dedicated Servers are among the oldest parts of the catalog. Intel Mac mini systems with DDR3 memory remain listed together with operating-system choices such as OS X Yosemite and Mountain Lion. This is clearly a legacy product family and is considerably removed from modern Apple hosting based on current macOS and Apple Silicon hardware.
Colocation remains much more relevant to Exascale's present network-infrastructure focus. Options range from individual 1U servers through quarter racks and complete 42U racks, giving customers a path from single-system deployments to larger infrastructure footprints.
Other hosting services include Hosted Exchange, spam filtering, SSL certificates and domain registration or transfers. Hosted Exchange includes a mailbox, spam and antivirus filtering and access from Outlook and mobile devices.
The main Exascale website has a modern layout and is now clearly focused on telecommunications, fibre and business networking. The separate hosting account and billing environment is much older in both appearance and product specification. English is the primary website language. Hosting billing supports GBP, EUR and USD, while broadband and UK business connectivity are principally priced in British pounds.
