Ethio telecom is Ethiopia’s national telecommunications and digital-services company, with telecommunications roots extending back to 1894. The present Ethio telecom organization was formally established on November 29, 2010, following the reorganization of the former Ethiopian Telecommunications Corporation. It is a state-owned enterprise headquartered in Addis Ababa, with Frehiwot Tamru serving as CEO in 2026.

For hosting customers, Ethio telecom has an important structural advantage over conventional hosting resellers: telecommunications connectivity, Internet services, domain services, cloud infrastructure and data-center operations are available within the same organization. This makes the company particularly suitable for Ethiopian businesses, government organizations and institutions that need domestic infrastructure, local billing and data residency inside Ethiopia.

The hosting portfolio includes Domain Registration, Linux Shared Hosting, Windows Shared Hosting, VPS, Dedicated Hosting, Bare Metal Servers, Cloud Servers, Email Hosting, Cloud Backup, Cloud Storage, Cloud Firewall, SaaS Email, SaaS ERP, SaaS File Management and E-commerce hosting. Domain registration covers Ethiopia’s .et ccTLD and extensions including .com.et, .net.et, .org.et, .edu.et and .tv.et. Domains can be combined directly with hosting and email services, giving Ethiopian organizations a practical single-provider setup for domains, websites and business communication.

Shared hosting is available on both Linux and Windows platforms. Linux hosting uses MySQL, while Windows hosting supports Microsoft-oriented applications and MS SQL. Both environments use Plesk Control Panel and are divided into Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum packages.

Linux Bronze starts with 5 GB storage, 50 GB bandwidth, one database, five email accounts, five subdomains, one hosted website, SSL and a free domain for the first year. Platinum reaches 100 GB storage, unlimited bandwidth, 10 databases, 90 email accounts, unlimited subdomains and up to 10 websites. Windows plans use a similar resource structure, with the main difference being support for Microsoft technologies such as ASP.NET and MS SQL.

The standard VPS range begins with 2 GB RAM and 30 GB storage, continues with a 4 GB RAM and 50 GB configuration, and reaches 8 GB RAM with 100 GB storage. VPS plans include root access, unlimited bandwidth and a domain during the first year. These packages are suitable for customers who need greater isolation and administrative control than standard shared hosting can provide.

Traditional Dedicated Hosting provides exclusive server resources with full root or administrator access. The Premium configuration includes 16 GB RAM, an eight-core 1.70 GHz processor, 2 TB storage, unlimited data transfer and six usable IP addresses, while Premium Plus increases memory to 32 GB. These dedicated services coexist with more powerful physical-server options available through Telecloud.

The Telecloud platform expands the service range considerably with RAM-optimized and CPU-optimized Cloud Servers. These systems include dedicated compute and storage resources, SSD system storage, selectable Internet capacity, remote SSH or RDP access, public IP options and backup. Available configurations scale from small virtual servers to enterprise instances with dozens of virtual CPUs and large memory allocations. Windows, RHEL and other commercial operating-system or third-party software licenses are billed separately when required.

At the upper end of the infrastructure portfolio, Bare Metal services include enterprise Dell PowerEdge systems. One Dell PowerEdge R730 configuration provides 512 GB RAM, dual Intel Xeon E5-2698 v4 processors, 40 physical cores and 80 threads, 3 TB SSD storage and multiple 10-Gigabit and 1-Gigabit network interfaces. This allows customers to grow from inexpensive shared hosting to substantial dedicated infrastructure while remaining with the same provider.

Security services include Cloud Firewall, available as an add-on for cloud and bare-metal customers. The Standard package includes site-to-site IPsec or WireGuard connectivity, OpenVPN, NAT, traffic monitoring and packet capture. Premium adds more compute capacity, unlimited IPsec/WireGuard and OpenVPN connections, and support for integration with additional security packages.

Cloud backup and storage services are available alongside the compute platform, with different backup schedules for cloud and SaaS workloads. HDD and SSD storage options are part of the wider Telecloud environment, allowing customers to keep applications, storage and backup infrastructure within the same Ethiopian platform.

Email can be purchased separately from web hosting. Personal and business email packages scale from smaller accounts to deployments supporting hundreds of mailboxes, with spam and antivirus protection included. SaaS Email is available for organizations requiring a more complete hosted-mail environment.

The SaaS portfolio also includes ERP, File Management System and E-commerce solutions. ERP packages combine application modules with dedicated hosting resources, while the File Management System provides private file sharing, desktop and mobile access, and collaborative document management. Current FMS packages use dedicated server resources and include a domain, SSL and 24/7 basic support.

Telecloud is covered by ISO/IEC 27001:2022 and CSA STAR certification, with certification covering Telecloud infrastructure together with data-center and disaster-recovery operations. This makes the platform more suitable for enterprises, government institutions and organizations that require formally controlled information-security processes.

The company provides a strongly localized service for the Ethiopian market. Its corporate platform is available in English, Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Somali and Tigrinya, while the hosting portal also supports multiple interface languages.
