eStranky.cz is one of the longer-running Czech website-building services, with development beginning in 2003 when Martin Krudenc started creating the platform for his own website needs. The service officially launched in the Czech Republic in autumn 2005 and expanded quickly. Sanoma Magazines Praha acquired the project in August 2006, and eStranky subsequently expanded into Slovakia and Hungary. The Czech operation is now run by VLTAVA LABE MEDIA a.s. The platform has historically passed the milestone of one million registered users, giving it a substantial operating history compared with many newer site-building services.

eStranky is primarily a hosted website builder and publishing platform rather than conventional shared hosting. Customers do not receive a generic Linux hosting account with cPanel, unrestricted PHP configuration or database-server administration. Websites are created and managed directly inside the eStranky environment, initially on an address such as name.estranky.cz, while paid accounts can use their own second-level domain.

The Free package costs nothing and includes 200 MB of storage together with more than 15 templates. It is suitable mainly for personal and non-commercial websites, and advertising controlled by the operator or third parties can appear on free sites. New websites receive a 30-day trial period, allowing most paid functions to be tested before choosing a paid subscription or continuing with the permanent Free package.

The Non-commercial package increases storage to 2 GB and provides more than 35 templates, password-protected content, language versions and broader design customization. It fits personal projects, associations, clubs, institutions and other organizations that need more functionality but are not operating the website commercially.

The Commercial package includes 8 GB of storage and permits business content, product and service promotion, price lists and the customer's own advertising. It works well for small companies, self-employed professionals and organizations that need a straightforward business presence without maintaining a traditional hosting account.

The e-Shop package also provides 8 GB and adds integrated e-commerce functionality. Products can be arranged into categories, product images and manufacturers can be managed, customer orders can be processed from the administration area, and merchant and invoicing information can be configured. XML product exports are supported, together with delivery integrations that include Zásilkovna, Balíkovna, DPD PickupPoint and GLS ParcelShop.

Paid accounts can use their own second-level domains, while domains already registered elsewhere can be pointed to an eStranky website. Domain-related packages can also include email mailboxes, making it possible to operate a business website and domain-based email without maintaining a separate mail server.

Additional functions include FTP access, website backups, password protection, visitor statistics, forms, photo and multimedia sections, custom code insertion, analytics and conversion-code integration, and multilingual website management. FTP is primarily intended for transferring website files and media rather than providing unrestricted hosting-level filesystem access, with individual FTP files limited to 50 MB.

Backups can be generated directly from the administration area and subsequently downloaded, restored or deleted. Keeping downloaded copies separately is sensible for commercially important websites rather than relying solely on copies stored within the same service.

Multilingual websites are supported. English and Slovak can be enabled as additional language versions, and translation tables can be customized for other languages. English can also become the primary language of an individual customer website. The main eStranky.cz commercial interface remains predominantly Czech, so international customers should expect the service itself to be oriented mainly toward Czech-speaking users.

The template system includes responsive designs suitable for smartphones and tablets. Although eStranky has been operating since the early Web 2.0 period, the current service is not limited to old fixed-width website layouts and provides responsive templates along with browser-based administration.
