edpnet is an established Belgian telecommunications provider whose history dates back to 1996, when entrepreneur Philip Deutz started the business. The company became firmly established in the Belgian telecom market around 1999 and developed a broad portfolio covering residential and business internet, mobile services, fixed telephony, SIP trunks, cloud telephony, domain registration, email, and web hosting.

The company is now part of Citymesh (citymesh.com). This followed edpnet’s judicial reorganization in 2023, when its assets initially passed to Proximus (proximus.be). On November 6, 2023, Proximus transferred edpnet Belgium to Citymesh, allowing the provider to continue operating as an alternative Belgian telecommunications brand.

Web hosting is a compact part of the edpnet portfolio, aimed mainly at individuals, associations, freelancers, and small businesses rather than developers looking for large-scale cloud infrastructure. Customers can choose between Basic and Extra Linux shared hosting, while business users can also request a customized Virtual Hosting service based on Linux or Windows.

The Basic package includes 1 GB of web space and unlimited traffic. It is suitable for a small static website, landing page, or simple personal project. The package does not include a domain name, SSL certificate, MySQL database, or email accounts, making it less practical for a modern company website unless these services are purchased separately.

Extra is the more complete shared hosting package. It includes 5 GB of web space, unlimited traffic, a 1 GB MySQL database, unlimited mailboxes, one domain name, and an SSL certificate for one domain. Eligible included domain extensions cover .be, .nl, .eu, .com, .net, .org, .info, and .biz.

Each mailbox includes 2.5 GB of storage, three aliases, spam filtering, and antivirus protection. POP3, IMAP, SMTP, and webmail access are available, including encrypted connection options.

The hosting platform supports WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, and current PHP versions. A complete website backup is created every day, providing useful protection for ordinary websites and content-management-system installations. The relatively small storage allocations remain the main restriction, particularly for websites with extensive image collections, downloadable files, or large email archives.

Business customers needing more space can request Virtual Hosting with Linux or Windows, 100 GB of storage, and unlimited traffic. This is a customized service rather than a standard self-service VPS package, with the final configuration and price determined individually.

Domain registration is available separately, with access to more than 500 domain extensions and unlimited subdomains. Several domains can be connected to one hosting account through DNS records and host-header configuration.

The website, customer area, and support documentation are available in Dutch, French, and English, which makes edpnet particularly suitable for Belgium’s multilingual market. Prices are charged in euros. Residential prices include VAT, while business prices are displayed without VAT.
