Dynu Systems is an American internet-services company founded in 1997 and headquartered in Chandler, Arizona. Dynamic DNS remains its best-known service, although the portfolio has expanded considerably over the years. Today, Dynu combines dynamic DNS, managed DNS, domain registration, DNS monitoring and failover, email services, SSL certificates, and self-managed KVM virtual private servers within a single account platform.

Dynu is also an ICANN-accredited domain registrar. The business operates independently and has an estimated workforce of 11–50 employees. Its services are aimed primarily at technically experienced customers, home-lab operators, developers, network administrators, and small businesses that need reliable DNS or server infrastructure without entering a complex enterprise contract.

This is not a traditional shared-hosting company. Dynu does not provide ordinary cPanel hosting, managed WordPress plans, reseller hosting, dedicated servers, or colocation packages. Its VPS service can still be used to host websites, applications, mail servers, VPN gateways, game servers, development environments, and other workloads, but customers must install and administer the software themselves.

Dynamic DNS is the main attraction. The free service does not require a credit card and free accounts do not expire simply because they remain on the free tier. Customers can use their own domain or a Dynu subdomain and manage IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, wildcard aliases, offline settings, URL forwarding, and common DNS records such as A, AAAA, CAA, CNAME, LOC, MX, PTR, SPF, and TXT. TTL values can be reduced to 30 seconds, allowing address changes to propagate quickly.

Automatic IP-address updates are available through clients for Windows, macOS, and Linux. The service is also compatible with many routers, NAS systems, IP cameras, home-automation devices, and other network equipment. API access, webhooks, and Model Context Protocol integration provide additional automation options for developers and administrators.

The free account supports up to four hostnames or related DNS items. The paid Member level increases this allowance to 200 and adds DNSSEC, DNS backup and restoration, zone import, zone transfer, IP update history, logs, shared zones, service discounts, and priority support. Corporate membership supports as many as 1,000 items and introduces GeoDNS, vanity nameservers, subaccounts, bulk management, advanced API access, webhooks, and dedicated support.

The domain-registration service includes DNS hosting, dynamic DNS, unlimited DNS records, wildcard aliases, URL forwarding, and port forwarding. WHOIS privacy is available for compatible extensions. Registrations and renewals can usually be purchased for periods of up to ten years, while transfers normally take between five and seven business days and generally add another year to the registration term.

Dynu also maintains a varied email-service portfolio. Full Service Email provides conventional mailboxes with POP3, IMAP, webmail, calendars, contacts, tasks, aliases, distribution lists, forwarding, catch-all delivery, autoresponders, and HTML signatures. The largest standard configuration supports up to 100 accounts and 50 GB of storage.

Outbound SMTP Relay lets websites, applications, monitoring systems, and private mail servers deliver legitimate transactional mail through authenticated connections. Supported ports include 25, 26, 2525, 465, and 587, with encrypted delivery and DKIM support. Bulk marketing, unsolicited commercial email, and abusive mailing practices are prohibited.

Email Forwarding is suitable for customers who need custom-domain addresses without maintaining full mailboxes. It supports individual aliases, distribution lists, role-based addresses, catch-all delivery, and forwarding to existing external accounts.

Email Backup receives and queues messages while a customer’s main mail server is unavailable. Store/Forward offers a related function for networks where an internet provider blocks inbound SMTP port 25. Dynu accepts the message on the standard SMTP port and passes it to the customer’s server through another configured port.

Email backup-retention periods vary between products. Some configurations retain queued messages for seven days, while Backup and Store/Forward plans can retain them for as long as 30 days. The applicable retention period depends on the selected service.

DNS Monitoring and Failover adds active availability checks for websites and network services. Monitors can test HTTP or HTTPS content, SSL certificate status, TCP ports, DNS over TCP or UDP, ping responses, and SMTP availability. An outage is confirmed from multiple geographic locations before automated failover begins, reducing the chance that a single monitoring-node problem will trigger an unnecessary DNS change.

Failover rules can add or remove A, AAAA, MX, and web-redirect records. Automatic recovery, dependent monitors, public status pages, historical monitoring information, and notifications through email, SMS, Slack, and Microsoft Teams are also supported. This creates a practical availability-management system for small infrastructure deployments.

The server portfolio consists of KVM VPS instances with NVMe storage. Configurations begin with one virtual processor, 2 GB RAM, 20 GB storage, and 1 TB of monthly transfer. The largest standard plan includes 32 processors, 64 GB RAM, 320 GB storage, and 6 TB of monthly transfer. Every VPS includes one IPv4 address and a /64 IPv6 allocation.

Operating-system choices include several releases of AlmaLinux, CentOS Stream, Debian, FreeBSD, Oracle Linux, Rocky Linux, Ubuntu, Windows Server, Windows 10, and Windows 11. Customers can also mount their own ISO image. Administrative functions include VNC console access, operating-system reinstallation, password reset, reverse DNS management, SSH or RDP access, and CPU host-passthrough for workloads that require it.

The VPS platform is completely self-managed. Customers are responsible for installation, security, updates, firewall rules, software configuration, data protection, and troubleshooting inside the operating system. Scheduled backups and snapshots are optional paid services rather than standard features.

Commercial SSL certificates are available in domain-validation, organization-validation, extended-validation, wildcard, and single-domain formats. Certificate authorities include Comodo, GeoTrust, RapidSSL, Thawte, and DigiCert. Domain-validation certificates can normally be issued within minutes, while organization and extended validation require additional company checks and take longer.

The website supports English, French, Italian, and Chinese, while product prices are displayed in US dollars. The interface remains functional and contains a large amount of technical information, although its design is noticeably older than many current hosting and cloud platforms. Navigation is generally straightforward, but several account and product areas use different layouts.
