domaindiscount24, commonly known as dd24, is a long-established German domain registrar and Internet-services provider operated by Key-Systems (key-systems.net). The domaindiscount24 retail service started in 2000, while Key-Systems itself dates back to 1998, when it was founded in Friedrichsthal, Germany, by Alexander Siffrin. Key-Systems became an ICANN-accredited registrar in 2000, the same year the domaindiscount24 service was launched for retail customers.

The company has gone through several important corporate changes. Key-Systems became part of KeyDrive, which was acquired by CentralNic in August 2018 in a transaction with an initial enterprise value of approximately US$44.5 million, potentially increasing to US$55 million through performance-related consideration. CentralNic was renamed Team Internet (teaminternet.com) in 2023, making domaindiscount24 part of the wider Team Internet Group.

This background gives dd24 considerably more registrar experience and technical depth than a typical low-cost domain retailer. Key-Systems manages millions of domain names, serves retail customers, corporate clients and resellers, and maintains direct accreditation relationships covering a very large number of extensions.

Domain Registration remains the core service. More than 1,000 domain extensions are available, including major generic TLDs, country-code extensions and newer domain endings. Customers can register new domains, transfer existing names, manage renewals, change nameservers, configure DNS records and use additional registry-specific services such as trustee or local-presence solutions where required.

Domain management supports features such as DNSSEC, IPv6 and internationalized domain names where the relevant registry permits them. Registration periods vary according to the extension and can extend for several years. Automatic renewal is normally enabled, while renewal behavior can be changed from the account.

Web & Email Hosting is based on cPanel and SSD storage. The current hosting generation consists mainly of Professional, Premium and Elite plans. All three include unlimited traffic, SSL support, MySQL databases, email functionality, cron jobs and Softaculous for installing common applications such as WordPress.

Professional Hosting includes 30 GB storage, 50 email accounts, 10 MySQL databases, 10 one-click application installations and support for one additional domain. Premium expands this to 100 GB storage, unlimited email accounts, 25 databases, 25 one-click installations and four additional domains. Elite increases the limits further with unlimited storage under fair-use conditions, unlimited email accounts and application installations, 50 MySQL databases and nine additional domains.

The hosting range was substantially reorganized in 2023, with Professional, Premium and Elite becoming the standard generation for new orders. Older packages can continue under their existing conditions, while new customers receive the newer cPanel-based plans.

A Resource and Fair Use Policy applies to hosting resources. Unlimited storage therefore does not mean unrestricted use for large file archives, video distribution, backup repositories or other workloads that would adversely affect a shared hosting environment.

All-inclusive Packages combine hosting, domains and SSL within a single annual subscription. Professional includes one domain, Premium includes two domains and Elite includes three domains, together with the corresponding hosting resources. These packages are convenient for customers starting a new website because the primary domain, web hosting, email and HTTPS can be managed from the same account.

Easy Email is the newer standalone email platform and is based on Titan (titan.email). It supports webmail, mobile applications, IMAP and POP access, calendars, two-factor authentication, spam filtering, backups and productivity functions.

The three main Easy Email levels are Personal, Start-up and Business. Personal provides 10 GB per mailbox, Start-up increases this to 50 GB, and Business offers 100 GB per mailbox together with additional storage and collaboration capabilities. A 30-day free trial is available for Easy Email.

Business-oriented functions include email templates, follow-up reminders, priority inbox organization, email campaigns and AI-assisted email writing and summaries. This gives dd24 a considerably stronger standalone email service than the basic mailbox functionality traditionally bundled with shared hosting.

Commercial SSL Certificates are available in addition to the free SSL functionality included with hosting. The range covers Domain Validation, Organization Validation, Extended Validation and Wildcard certificates from established certificate authorities including RapidSSL, Sectigo, DigiCert, GeoTrust and Thawte.

Certificate subscription periods can be longer than the actual validity of each issued certificate. Following industry-wide reductions in maximum certificate lifetimes, certificates may need to be reissued during the subscription period rather than remaining valid as one certificate for an entire year.

vServers remain associated with the wider dd24 and Key-Systems service environment, particularly for existing customers, but they are no longer part of the normal active retail catalog with publicly displayed configurations and pricing. The regular storefront is now concentrated on Domains, DNS Services, Shared Hosting, Domain + Hosting Packages, Email Hosting and SSL Certificates.

Dedicated servers and conventional public-cloud instances are also outside the normal domaindiscount24 retail range. Customers requiring large-scale VPS deployments, bare-metal infrastructure or GPU systems will generally need a more infrastructure-focused provider.

International support is one of the stronger aspects of dd24. The interface is available in German, English, Spanish, French, Dutch, Polish, Portuguese and Chinese. Product pricing can be displayed in approximately 32 currencies, including EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, CAD, AUD, CNY, JPY, PLN and RON.

The current interface is responsive and works properly on desktop, tablet and mobile devices. A major redesign introduced in 2022 modernized navigation, product presentation and account access, replacing the older generation of the website.
