📄 Editorial Review

Datacom LLC is one of Mongolia's longest-established Internet companies, with roots going back to 1994. It was founded as Medeeliyn Khariltsa BBHK and became closely connected with the introduction of commercial Internet access in Mongolia. Full Internet service became available in January 1996, while later activities expanded into Internet connectivity, domain registration, hosting, online payments, web development and business Internet services. Dangaasürengiin Enkhbat was the founder and director general of Datacom from 1994 to 2008.

Domain names remain an important part of the business. Datacom handles .MN domain services and also supports the Cyrillic .мон, .org.mn and a selection of international extensions including .io, .asia, .biz, .cc, .info, .mobi, .name and .tv. Customers can manage WHOIS information, DNS records, domain forwarding and domain protection through the account system. The company has accumulated more than 5,000 customers and more than 1,000 resellers.

The hosting portfolio covers Mongolian Shared Hosting, U.S. Shared Hosting, Linux Hosting, Windows Hosting, Node.js Hosting, WordPress Hosting and VPS. Related products include Office Email, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, SSL certificates, domain registration and custom website/application development. The focus is mainly on shared and virtual hosting rather than conventional dedicated-server or colocation packages.

Domestic shared hosting is particularly suitable for websites targeting visitors inside Mongolia. Standard, Business and Pro packages use CloudLinux, SSD storage, free SSL, backups and cPanel. Larger plans support more domains, databases and resources, while the Node.js service adds Git-Clone support. The platform uses Dell PowerEdge R740XD servers with dual Intel Gold 6138 processors, 128 GB RAM, RAID storage and redundant power supplies. Domestic traffic benefits from connection through MIX, Mongolia's local Internet exchange environment.

Datacom also operates international shared hosting in the United States, with infrastructure distributed across three U.S. states. Linux packages range from single-domain accounts to larger plans with unlimited domains, disk space and transfer. Windows hosting remains available for customers using Microsoft-oriented applications and technologies. The international platform also uses RAID-protected storage and redundant power.

The WordPress Hosting range provides a more specialized environment than ordinary shared hosting. It includes automatic installation, automatic WordPress updates, caching, CDN functionality, SSL and database backups. Standard supports one WordPress website with 2 CPU cores and 2 GB RAM, Performance supports two websites with 4 cores and 4 GB RAM, while Business supports three websites with 6 cores and 6 GB RAM.

The VPS range starts with 2 CPU cores, 4 GB RAM and 80 GB storage and scales up to 8 cores, 32 GB RAM and 640 GB storage. Datacom expanded its VPS infrastructure to Singapore in 2021, providing an additional Asian location outside Mongolia. VPS management is handled through an Easy Control Panel with server power controls, monitoring and VNC console access.

Business email is another substantial part of the portfolio. Office Email uses GroupOffice and supports IMAP, SMTP and POP access, calendars, contacts, tasks, file storage, anti-spam and anti-virus filtering, phishing protection and two-factor authentication. Current plans provide 25 GB mailboxes, while larger packages add longer archive retention, higher sending limits, synchronization features and document collaboration.

Datacom is also an authorized Google Workspace partner and has operated as an official Microsoft reseller since 2021. Google Workspace includes Gmail, Drive, Meet, Calendar, Docs, Sheets and the other standard Workspace applications, with local technical assistance. Microsoft 365 packages include Exchange, Teams, OneDrive and Office applications, with Business Standard also providing desktop application licenses.

SSL products include Positive SSL, Comodo SSL and Positive SSL Wildcard. The wildcard option covers the main domain together with its subdomains, while the standard certificate is suitable for ordinary websites and smaller online projects.

Custom website and application development is available as well. Landing-page projects start from 6,600,000₮ and use technologies including Next.js, responsive UI/UX, caching, SEO and custom development. Mobile and web application work is individually quoted.

The company has continued modernizing its customer platform. Datacom 2.0 was introduced in 2024, followed by a mobile application in 2025. The application supports domain searches, DNS management, expiration notifications, invoice payments, renewals and Office Email administration. The website is available in Mongolian and English, while pricing is primarily displayed in Mongolian tögrög (MNT/₮).
