📄 Editorial Review

Criticalcase is an Italian cloud and managed infrastructure provider founded in 1999 by Luca Nunno. The company has evolved from traditional hosting into an international cloud system integrator with operations in Italy, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Criticalcase S.r.l. operates under the management and coordination of Critical Holding S.r.l., within a broader group covering cloud infrastructure, content delivery, cybersecurity, technical outsourcing, and managed hosting.

Criticalcase mainly serves enterprises, public administrations, system integrators, software developers, web agencies, e-commerce businesses, media organizations, and companies running business-critical online services. The organization falls within the 51–200 employee range on LinkedIn, while the broader group has a technical team of more than 200 specialists.

Its infrastructure supports more than 4,000 cloud servers, 1,000 managed physical servers, 12 PB of stored data, and over 3,000 customers. This is not a conventional low-cost hosting provider built around shared hosting plans, domain bundles, or basic cPanel accounts. Services are designed individually according to application requirements, expected traffic, compliance obligations, recovery objectives, security needs, and available budget.

The Virtual Datacenter service supports Linux and Windows virtual machines, unlimited virtual LANs, and flexible deployment without a fixed limit on the number of virtual servers. Internet connectivity reaches 1 Gbps, while links between data centers reach 10 Gbps. Customers can choose between Public Cloud and dedicated Private Cloud configurations, with private environments reserving computing, storage, and networking resources for a single organization.

Managed Cloud extends infrastructure management beyond Criticalcase facilities to environments operating on AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. Public, private, hybrid, and multicloud environments can operate under a unified management model. Automation is available through Ansible, SaltStack, Terraform, and other Infrastructure-as-Code technologies, while managed services include monitoring, patching, endpoint protection, backup administration, and security-event handling.

Its cloud operations capabilities cover multicloud governance, cloud-native architecture, Kubernetes, DevOps, CI/CD, analytics, machine learning, business intelligence, and Big Data. This makes the company suitable for organizations that need application modernization, automated deployment, container orchestration, or the ability to distribute workloads across several cloud providers.

Cloud Migration covers websites, databases, email systems, storage environments, physical servers, dedicated infrastructure, and applications based on WordPress, Magento, PrestaShop, Drupal, Joomla, and other common platforms. Migration projects can include initial assessment, architecture design, data transfer, testing, monitoring, maintenance, software updates, and ongoing security management.

Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity combine the multi-data-center platform with Veeam (veeam.com) for managed protection and NAKIVO (nakivo.com) for self-managed backup environments. Customers can define recovery-point and recovery-time objectives, replicate complete virtual machines, schedule file or system backups, and monitor failed backup processes. Data Center Consolidation is also available for organizations replacing fragmented physical systems with virtualized, hybrid, or consolidated infrastructure.

Dedicated Enterprise Hosting is intended for demanding websites, web applications, e-commerce platforms, and services requiring high availability or substantial computing capacity. Infrastructure can use advanced virtualization and Kubernetes orchestration through the Kubify platform. Customers can retain direct operational control or transfer complete management to the Criticalcase technical team.

IT Outsourcing provides a single operational contact for infrastructure administration, monitoring, project coordination, and specialist technical work. Coverage can extend from one hosting environment to a complete server estate or corporate infrastructure. It is particularly useful for companies that need continuous technical expertise without maintaining a large internal operations department.

The security portfolio includes DDoS mitigation, Web Application Firewall protection, API security, network security, bot management, SASE, SD-WAN, Zero Trust access, and cloud or data-center security. The DDoS protection platform can absorb attacks of up to 1 Tbps, while application security combines traffic inspection, dedicated WAF configurations, proprietary detection logic, and continuously updated filtering rules.

Global Secure Network and SASE services integrate technology from Cato Networks (catonetworks.com). These services combine SD-WAN, cloud firewalling, secure web access, Cloud Access Security Broker functions, and Zero Trust Network Access through a cloud-native private backbone. Branch offices, remote employees, cloud platforms, and data centers can therefore operate under one security and connectivity architecture.

Criticalcase also has an extensive performance and content-delivery portfolio covering CDN, Multi-CDN, China CDN, live streaming, on-demand video, image optimization, video optimization, high-performance DNS, application monitoring, business monitoring, and global network acceleration.

The China CDN combines local infrastructure and providers such as Tencent Cloud, Alibaba Cloud, China Net Center, and Akamai. Assistance is also available for the ICP licensing process required for many commercial online services operating within mainland China.

Image and video management integrates Cloudinary technology for media storage, transformation, automatic optimization, secure CDN distribution, AI-assisted processing, role-based access, APIs, and signed delivery URLs. Streaming services support adaptive bitrate delivery, real-time packaging, multiple streaming protocols, automatic scalability, and continuous monitoring of playback quality.

High Performance DNS operates through a globally distributed Anycast network covering 28 countries. DNS requests are routed toward nearby edge locations, reducing latency and improving resilience during network attacks. This service includes a 100% SLA, while the main cloud and data-center infrastructure operates under a 99.99% SLA.

Application Performance Monitoring integrates Datadog (datadoghq.com) for application, website, infrastructure, user-journey, and real-time bottleneck analysis. Business Monitoring expands this coverage to commercial performance, Core Web Vitals, SEO indicators, conversion behavior, synthetic monitoring, real-user monitoring, and end-user experience.

Cloud4Wi adds managed guest Wi-Fi and customer-experience functionality for retail, hospitality, and other physical business locations. The platform combines automatic secure Wi-Fi access with customer analytics and personalized digital engagement.

In January 2025, Criticalcase acquired Resò S.r.l. of Chivasso, strengthening its monitoring, support, and field-service capabilities. Resò contributed a network operations center supervising approximately 30,000 sensors, a data-processing environment of around 15 racks, and field infrastructure responsibilities covering more than 130 retail locations. Its NOC was integrated with Criticalcase support operations to expand continuous technical coverage.

The company website has a modern, responsive layout and is available in English and Italian. Product pricing is not handled through a conventional online shopping cart because most services require technical assessment, architecture planning, and a customized Service Order.
