📄 Editorial Review
CLOUDV is a South Korean cloud, server hosting, colocation, content-delivery, and infrastructure platform operated by SMILESERV Inc. The company was established on June 1, 2002 and began with hosting services before expanding into physical servers, data-center infrastructure, and cloud computing. IDC SMILE Gasan entered operation in 2008, followed by the CloudV service in 2012. SMILESERV later expanded further into public cloud, private cloud, and infrastructure for government and enterprise customers. Kim Byung-chul serves as CEO.CloudV is primarily an infrastructure provider rather than a conventional shared-hosting company. Its portfolio covers Bare Metal Servers, Dedicated Servers, Custom Servers, Linux VPS, Windows VPS, GPU Servers, LLM infrastructure, Private Cloud, Cloud Database, Storage, NAS Hosting, Colocation, Managed Services, Backup, Load Balancing, Content Delivery, Streaming, VPN, SSL, and security services. Traditional shared hosting and domain registration are not the main focus of the CloudV brand.
Bare Metal Servers provide physical hardware without a virtualization layer while keeping much of the flexibility normally associated with cloud infrastructure. Intel and AMD systems are available together with GPU-oriented configurations and Mac Mini systems. Representative entry configurations start around KRW 65,000 per month, while other bare-metal packages are priced around KRW 99,000 depending on hardware. Features can include dedicated network connectivity, large traffic allowances, remote console access, firewall protection, monitoring, vulnerability checks, name-server assistance, and initial operating-system or APM installation.
Customers who prefer long-term physical infrastructure can also choose ownership-transfer and custom dedicated servers. Intel Xeon, AMD Ryzen, and AMD EPYC platforms are available with NVMe storage and configurable RAM and storage. Some systems use 12- or 24-month ownership-transfer arrangements, while other hardware can be purchased outright. Standard network connectivity is commonly 1 Gbps, with 10 Gbps available for suitable configurations.
The VPS platform supports both Linux and Windows. Linux packages range from smaller 1-core, 2 GB RAM instances to substantially larger configurations with up to 32 cores and 120 GB RAM. Windows Server configurations scale to similar resource levels. SSD-based storage is standard, while some plans can use processors reaching approximately 4.9 GHz. Linux VPS pricing starts at around KRW 31,500 per month, while Windows VPS begins around KRW 80,300 with the Windows Server license included.
VPS instances can be provisioned rapidly and can be reinstalled through the CloudV customer environment. Remote console access, ELCAP firewall protection, vulnerability scanning, SMS monitoring, MRTG traffic statistics, and name-server services are available with the virtual-server platform.
Traffic allowances are relatively generous. VPS instances include around 1,200 GB of monthly outbound traffic, while larger physical-server services commonly include around 2,400 GB. Traffic between services inside IDC SMILE is free, and incoming traffic is generally not charged in the same way as outbound usage. International traffic has separate conditions and should be considered carefully for services expecting a large audience outside South Korea.
AI and high-performance workloads have become an important part of the CloudV portfolio. GPU Servers can scale to multi-GPU configurations, including systems equipped with NVIDIA A100 and other professional GPU hardware. The LLM & GPU platform supports private language-model environments using technologies such as Ollama, vLLM, and KTransformers. These systems are suitable for inference, AI development, scientific computing, transcoding, and other GPU-intensive workloads.
Storage is divided into Block Storage, Shared Storage, Object Storage, and NAS Hosting. Block storage supports SSD and SATA volumes, shared storage uses NFS, and object storage is available through HTTP, HTTPS, and API access. Block storage begins around KRW 1,600 per 10 GB per month, while shared storage starts around KRW 16,000 per 100 GB. Object storage uses consumption-based billing.
The separate NAS Hosting service includes Synology-based systems with RAID, snapshots, web management, and 1 Gbps connectivity. This is useful for backup repositories, shared business storage, and private file services, particularly because internal traffic between CloudV systems and NAS equipment inside IDC SMILE is free.
Database services include Cloud DBMS and dedicated database hosting. Cloud DB environments provide administrative access, clustered availability options, automatic failover, SSD storage, access controls, and daily recovery backups. MariaDB and MySQL configurations begin around KRW 18,500 per month, while Microsoft SQL Server starts substantially higher because of licensing costs.
Organizations requiring their own virtualization environment can use Private Cloud based on Proxmox. The platform supports KVM virtual machines, LXC containers, clustering, ZFS and NFS storage, software-defined networking, firewall functions, APIs, and command-line administration. SMILESERV can combine consulting, hardware rental, deployment, and ongoing management into the same private-cloud project.
CloudV also has a sizeable content and media infrastructure portfolio. Content Delivery services combine storage and high traffic allowances, while dedicated cache systems provide larger-scale delivery capacity. CacheFront supplies RAM-based clustered website caching, and the SMILECAST platform handles file management, media distribution, and traffic information.
Streaming services include shared and dedicated VOD and LIVE infrastructure. Shared VOD packages begin around KRW 23,000 per month, while shared LIVE starts around KRW 36,300. Dedicated streaming configurations provide substantially higher traffic allowances. Live transcoding based on the WOWZA engine is also available for real-time multi-quality streaming.
Additional infrastructure services include L4/L7 Load Balancing, CDP and DR Backup, Server Migration, Data Migration, Software Licensing, Monitoring, and Managed Administration. L7 load balancing starts around KRW 44,000 per month, while L4 services begin around KRW 57,800. Larger redundant configurations are available for colocation and enterprise environments.
Security is another extensive part of the catalog. Services include vulnerability and hacking checks, monitoring, web application firewalling, SSL certificates, database encryption, OTP authentication, antivirus, anti-ransomware protection, spam filtering, VPN, and Anti-DDoS mitigation. Cloud VPN plans begin around KRW 11,600 per month and support SoftEther, OpenVPN, PPTP, and L2TP/IPsec. SSL options include Sectigo certificates together with technical assistance for Let's Encrypt deployments.
The company primarily serves the South Korean market. The website, ordering environment, support documentation, billing procedures, and legal information are mainly in Korean, and prices are shown in South Korean won (KRW). No complete multi-language/localized version exists.
