*📜 Plan description

Cloudflare Pro is aimed at professional sites and startups that need stronger security and performance tuning than Free. It unlocks the full Web Application Firewall with Cloudflare Managed Rules and OWASP rules to stop common exploits (SQLi, XSS), adds Super Bot Fight Mode to challenge or block non-human traffic, and increases rule/caching customization (more Cache Rules and Page Rules to target page-level policies). Pro also enhances performance with features like Polish/Mirage image optimization, Enhanced HTTP/2 Prioritization, and richer cache analytics to find miss/expired assets and improve hit ratios. WordPress sites can turn on Automatic Platform Optimization (APO) to cache HTML at the edge for large TTFB gains, and APO is included with Pro. Pro is priced per domain at 25 USD/month with predictable flat pricing (no extra charges for normal CDN bandwidth), and you can bundle add-ons such as Argo Smart Routing or Load Balancing for additional speed and resilience. Ticket-based help is available through the dashboard, and upgrades/downgrades are prorated within the billing cycle.

As with other Cloudflare tiers, the Pro plan runs on the same anycast network footprint and control panel—so enabling features is point-and-click while the edge absorbs volumetric L3–L7 DDoS. Plans are month-to-month in USD and managed in the Cloudflare dashboard; accepted methods include credit cards and PayPal. Pro inherits the platform’s philosophy of simplifying edge security and performance without managing servers, and it provides an easy runway to Business if you later need a formal SLA or premium support.

📄 Editorial Review

Cloudflare is one of the world's largest Internet connectivity, security, content delivery, and edge-computing companies. The business was founded in 2009 by Matthew Prince, Michelle Zatlyn, and Lee Holloway. Its origins extend back to Project Honey Pot, started by Prince and Holloway in 2004, before Prince met Zatlyn at Harvard Business School and the Cloudflare concept took shape. The company won the Harvard Business School Business Plan competition in April 2009, raised its Series A financing later that year, entered private beta in June 2010, and launched publicly on September 27, 2010. Cloudflare became a publicly traded company on September 13, 2019 under NYSE ticker NET.

Cloudflare, Inc. is headquartered in San Francisco, California, USA, and has developed into a global organization with offices across multiple countries. Its scale is very different from that of a conventional hosting provider: Cloudflare handles traffic for millions of Internet properties, and its network powers roughly one in five websites. The service combines CDN and authoritative DNS infrastructure with security, networking, developer computing, storage, AI, domain registration, and Zero Trust products.

For hosting customers, Cloudflare should not be treated as a conventional cPanel hosting company. It does not offer traditional Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting, standard VPS packages, or physical dedicated servers in the usual web-hosting sense. A website can remain with its existing origin provider while Cloudflare operates in front of it for DNS, caching, SSL/TLS, DDoS mitigation, traffic optimization, application security, and routing. At the same time, the Developer Platform has expanded far enough to host substantial application workloads without a conventional web server.

The Network & CDN range includes authoritative DNS, globally distributed CDN caching, DDoS protection, Universal SSL, HTTP optimization, image optimization, Argo Smart Routing, Load Balancing, Waiting Room, traffic analytics, Log Explorer, advanced certificate management, Email Routing, Spectrum for non-HTTP TCP and UDP applications, Network Interconnect, and other traffic-management functions. The reverse-proxy architecture allows these services to protect and accelerate websites without requiring the origin infrastructure to be moved.

The Security portfolio goes far beyond the basic protection normally bundled with web hosting. It includes Web Application Firewall functionality, managed security rules, bot-management tools, API Shield, DDoS mitigation, Page Shield, Turnstile, rate controls, SSL/TLS management, custom certificate options, data-localization controls, application protection, and account-abuse defenses. Network-level services such as Magic Transit extend protection to IP infrastructure rather than limiting it to websites and HTTP traffic.

Cloudflare One / Zero Trust combines Zero Trust Network Access, Secure Web Gateway, Cloudflare Access, Gateway, Browser Isolation, CASB, Data Loss Prevention, Email Security, WAN connectivity, device controls, user controls, and broader SASE functionality. The free Zero Trust tier is practical for smaller teams, while larger deployments can move to per-user billing or negotiated contracts with additional support and enterprise functionality.

The Developer Platform has become one of Cloudflare's most important service groups. Workers runs JavaScript, TypeScript, WebAssembly, Python-related workloads, APIs, application backends, and other code across the Cloudflare network without customers provisioning conventional servers. Pages handles web application and static-site deployments, while Durable Objects provides stateful coordination for distributed applications.

The development ecosystem also includes Workflows, Queues, Hyperdrive, KV, D1, Vectorize, Browser Run, Sandboxes, Containers, Workers Observability, Workers for Platforms, AI Gateway, Workers AI, Realtime services, and additional components designed for long-running, stateful, AI-oriented, and agent-based applications. This makes Cloudflare increasingly comparable with a serverless cloud platform rather than only a CDN layered in front of traditional hosting.

R2 Object Storage provides S3-compatible object storage without Internet egress fees. R2 Data Catalog and R2 SQL extend that storage toward analytics and structured-data workloads. Basin reached general availability during Cloudflare's 2026 Birthday Week as a serverless data platform built around Apache Iceberg and R2. Images and Stream cover image transformation, image delivery, video storage, and video streaming, while the wider platform increasingly connects storage, compute, AI, security, and observability within the same account.

AI has become another major development area. Workers AI runs inference on Cloudflare infrastructure, AI Gateway provides observability and controls around AI-model traffic, and AI Search reached general availability in October 2026. Additional developer services now support agents, real-time applications, browser execution, isolated application environments, data pipelines, and AI-oriented application architectures.

Cloudflare has also expanded through acquisitions. Area 1 Security became part of the company in 2022, strengthening cloud email-security capabilities. During 2024, PartyKit and Baselime added real-time development and observability technologies, BastionZero strengthened infrastructure-access capabilities, and Kivera added cloud-security technology. Replicate joined Cloudflare in December 2025, followed by Human Native and the Astro Technology Company team in January 2026 and VoidZero in June 2026. These additions have pushed Cloudflare further into AI infrastructure, application development, JavaScript tooling, observability, and developer platforms.

Cloudflare Registrar is useful for customers who prefer to keep domain management within the same account as DNS and security. Domains are registered and renewed at registry and ICANN-related wholesale cost without an additional Cloudflare registrar markup. Registration includes WHOIS redaction where permitted, Cloudflare DNS, DNSSEC support, domain locking, SSL/CDN integration, and centralized account management. By September 2026, Registrar search covered more than 420 domain extensions, while API capabilities allowed increasingly automated domain administration.

The 1.1.1.1 public DNS resolver and WARP are also important parts of the wider Cloudflare ecosystem, even though they are not traditional hosting products. They use the same globally distributed network architecture and contribute to Cloudflare's very large DNS and Internet-routing footprint.

Localization is extensive. The main website supports English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese, together with regional variations in some areas. The Cloudflare Dashboard supports German, English, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

The technical blog remains highly active, with new engineering, networking, security, AI, and product-development content continuing through October 2026. Cloudflare's 2026 Birthday Week alone included 46 product and platform announcements, illustrating how rapidly the platform continues to evolve.
