chilly.domains is an Austrian domain-registration and shared-hosting provider operated by Ledl.net GmbH & Co. KG. The hosting business dates back to 1999, while the chillydomains brand became part of Ledl.net in January 2013. Founder and managing director Friedrich Ledl remains involved in the company together with co-managing director Franz Josef Reischenböck.

The corporate structure changed in September 2025, when Ledl.net GmbH was merged into Ledl.net GmbH & Co. KG. The reorganized company became the universal legal successor, allowing existing customer contracts and active services to continue under the new legal entity.

The service range centers on domain registration, Linux shared hosting, email hosting, website-building tools, SSL certificates and DNS administration. The catalog does not include VPS, dedicated-server or colocation packages, so the company is primarily suited to individuals, associations, small businesses and agencies running standard websites and email services.

More than 450 domain extensions can be registered. Domain packages include DNS management, unlimited subdomains, domain forwarding, email forwarding, a postmaster mailbox, free SSL and a basic one-page website builder. Registrations are handled through the ICANN-accredited Ledl.net registrar, giving customers direct access to domain and DNS administration from the same account used for hosting.

Linux Web Hosting is available in Bronze, Silver and Gold configurations. Bronze supports one website and includes 10 GB of combined web and email storage, ten mailboxes, one database, 100 GB of monthly traffic and 128 MB of PHP memory. Silver supports two websites with 20 GB of storage, 100 mailboxes, two databases, 500 GB of traffic and 192 MB of PHP memory. Gold supports three websites with 50 GB of storage, 500 mailboxes, five databases, 1 TB of monthly traffic and 256 MB of PHP memory.

All shared-hosting packages use SSD storage and include SSL, daily backups, malware scanning, email filtering and one-click application installation. Available applications include WordPress, TYPO3, Drupal, Magento, PrestaShop, ownCloud and Nextcloud. More experienced users receive SSH access, Git, Composer, WP-CLI, cron jobs, access logs and custom PHP configuration.

The large selection of PHP versions can be useful when moving an older application that still depends on a legacy branch. Current production websites should nevertheless use a maintained PHP release whenever compatibility permits. Both MySQL and PostgreSQL databases are supported, while phpMyAdmin is available for browser-based database administration.

Email Hosting can be ordered independently from web hosting. The package includes ten mailboxes, 10 GB of email storage, aliases, forwarding, autoresponders, catch-all delivery, spam filtering, virus scanning and encrypted POP3 or IMAP connections. Roundcube is included for webmail access, and email attachments of up to 128 MB are supported.

The Website Builder is offered in Free, Lite and Premium versions. The permanent free edition creates a single-page website with 24 templates, SSL and one postmaster mailbox. Lite supports up to ten pages, 48 templates, ten mailboxes, contact forms and multilingual websites. Premium removes the page limit, includes more than 200 templates and adds ecommerce functionality, reusable content blocks, social-network integration and up to 1,000 email accounts.

Online stores created with the Premium builder can accept payments through PayPal, Klarna, Stripe, bank transfer and cash on delivery. The templates are optimized for mobile devices, while the main chilly.domains interface is modern, responsive and easy to navigate.

The website is available in English and German. Most product and account information has an English version, although the complete contractual documentation remains more detailed in German. This can create an additional translation requirement for international customers reviewing legal conditions before ordering.

Free domain-validated SSL is included with hosting and website-builder plans. Commercial certificates are also available for customers needing additional browser compatibility, a dedicated IP address or a certificate warranty.
