CanHost is a long-established Canadian hosting and infrastructure provider operating as CanHost Inc. / DBA I-Guru. Founded in 1999, the company has more than 25 years of experience with web hosting, domain registration, servers, data protection, colocation and managed infrastructure. The business began in Ontario before moving its main operations to Kelowna, British Columbia, where it developed into a provider with a strong focus on Canadian infrastructure and Canadian data residency.

CanHost also has a long history in the Canadian domain market. It is a CIRA-accredited registrar and operates as registrar number 36, placing it among the earlier companies authorized to handle .CA registrations. Generic domain registrations are available as well, with eNom used for part of the domain infrastructure. Domain management includes DNS controls, renewals, transfers, email forwarding and free WHOIS privacy protection for extensions where privacy is supported.

The service portfolio is considerably broader than basic shared hosting and includes Linux Shared Hosting, Windows Shared Hosting, VPS, Dedicated Servers, Managed Hosting, Colocation, Reseller Hosting, Domains, DNS, SSL Certificates, Email Hosting, Hosted Exchange, Cloud Backup, Veeam Backup, C3s Object Storage, WordPress Hosting, CMS Hosting, E-Commerce Hosting and Website Builder services.

Linux Shared Hosting is based mainly on cPanel. Level 1 includes 25 GB storage, 10 email accounts, 10 MySQL databases, support for 10 websites/domains and AutoSSL. Level 2 increases capacity to 50 GB with 20 email accounts, databases and domains, while Level 3 provides 75 GB storage and supports up to 40 email accounts, databases and domains. The main Linux plans include unlimited traffic together with PHP, FTP, MySQL, MariaDB and standard web-development functionality.

Application-oriented hosting is available for WordPress, Dotclear and Open Blog, while other packages cover Drupal, Joomla, MODX, Magento, OpenCart and forum software. These services use the shared-hosting platform with application-specific setup, while Softaculous provides one-click installation for hundreds of common web applications.

Windows shared hosting remains available through Plesk, with support for ASP, ASP.NET and Microsoft SQL Server environments. Some Windows configurations retain older platform terminology, including references to FrontPage and Plesk 12, so customers depending on a particular Microsoft technology should confirm the precise software version required for their application.

The VPS Express range is one of the more attractive parts of the CanHost portfolio for customers seeking Canadian virtual infrastructure. Physical server customers can choose Dedicated Hosting for Linux or Windows. The dedicated configurations use Intel Xeon Gold 6136 processors, ECC DDR4 memory, hardware RAID and mirrored SSD drives for the operating system. The entry CanHost 100 configuration includes a single 12-core/24-thread Xeon Gold 6136, 48 GB RAM and two 250 GB SSDs in RAID 1. Larger systems use dual processors and can reach 96 GB RAM. Redundant hot-swap power supplies, GbE and SFP+ connectivity are available, along with hardware maintenance, monitoring, bandwidth reporting and custom server configurations.

Managed Hosting adds administration and operational support to the dedicated infrastructure. Management can cover operating-system and application updates, security patching, SNMP and application monitoring, antivirus maintenance, backups, restoration, disaster recovery, Windows licensing, Microsoft SQL licensing and system administration. Managed firewall, email security and intrusion-detection services are also available.

Colocation is a major part of the business. Customers can install their own hardware in the Kelowna facility with configurable bandwidth, power and security. Standard deployments can begin with 15-amp power, while redundant 30-60 amp arrangements and larger cage installations are available for denser infrastructure. Remote hands, backup services, managed IP services, administration and firewall options can be added to the colocation environment.

The Reseller Hosting range uses WHM and cPanel. Reseller 30 provides 30 GB storage, 300 GB transfer and 30 cPanel accounts. Reseller 50 increases this to 50 GB, 500 GB transfer and 50 accounts, while Reseller 80 provides 80 GB, 800 GB transfer and 80 accounts. Two dedicated IP addresses are included, allowing private nameserver configurations, and additional addresses can be ordered separately.

Email customers can choose between conventional Email Hosting and Microsoft Exchange services. The basic email package includes 15 mailboxes, POP3/IMAP access, webmail and managed spam filtering. Larger Business and Premium packages increase mailbox numbers and storage. Exchange services range from multi-account hosted Exchange to private and fully managed dedicated Exchange environments with Outlook, webmail, mobile-device support and SSL.

Backup and storage services add another useful dimension. CanHost Cloud Backup provides encrypted transfer and encrypted storage, with the basic package including 1 TB for one computer. Veeam Cloud Connect packages cover virtual-machine backup, starting with 1 TB and five VMs and extending to larger 2.5 TB and 5 TB configurations.

The newer C3s Object Storage platform provides Canadian S3-compatible object storage based on Ceph. Capacity begins at 500 GB and can scale beyond 50 TB. API access and S3 compatibility make the platform suitable for backups, applications and storage tools that normally connect to Amazon S3-compatible endpoints while retaining data in Canada.

Commercial SSL certificates are also available. Sectigo products include standard domain-validation, wildcard and UCC certificates, while DigiCert products cover single-domain, multi-domain/UCC and wildcard requirements. Linux shared hosting already includes AutoSSL, making commercial certificates more relevant when a particular certificate authority or certificate type is required.

A Weebly Website Builder integration remains available for cPanel accounts, with Free, Starter, Pro and Business variants. CanHost also provides basic web-design assistance and can connect customers with local developers for more complex development projects.

The main CanHost website is in English, while the client portal supports extensive localization.
