CacheFly is an American content delivery network company founded in 2002 and operated by CacheNetworks, LLC. Founder Matt Levine remains CTO and was closely involved in the early implementation of TCP Anycast for commercial CDN delivery. Daniel Brosk has served as CEO since 2025. The privately held business is headquartered in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, has approximately 11–50 employees, and serves more than 500 customers across nearly 100 countries.

The company’s technical background began with Downloadhosting.com, a file-distribution service created by Matt Levine in 1999 for software developers. CacheFly subsequently developed into a dedicated content-delivery platform, while CacheNetworks, LLC was incorporated in Illinois in 2004. The recognized foundation year remains 2002.

CacheFly is not a conventional web hosting provider. It does not concentrate on shared hosting, VPS packages or dedicated servers, but instead specializes in content delivery, private CDN capacity, multi-CDN architecture, video streaming, game distribution, origin shielding, edge computing, security and object storage. This makes the platform most suitable for companies distributing large files, software, game patches, live broadcasts, video libraries, advertising content and other bandwidth-intensive digital assets.

The main CDN service uses Anycast routing to direct visitors toward an appropriate edge location without relying entirely on conventional DNS-based traffic steering. BestHop technology optimizes the route between the edge network and the customer’s origin. HTTP/3, IPv6, SSL/TLS, configurable cache rules, rapid purging and origin failover are available according to the selected service tier.

Global latency is designed to remain below 30 milliseconds where network coverage permits. Performance testing through Cedexis and Citrix has also placed CacheFly as much as 158% ahead of competing CDN services under certain network conditions.

Custom CDN is intended for technically demanding deployments that cannot be handled efficiently through a standard configuration. CacheFly engineers can build specialized upload, storage, caching, routing, delivery and billing workflows around the customer’s requirements. Custom edge scripts, URL manipulation, token authentication, private capacity, dedicated cache shields, automated certificates, traffic controls, Web Application Firewall protection, bot management and real-time logging can operate within the same environment.

Multi-CDN allows CacheFly to work alongside other delivery networks rather than replacing an existing CDN stack. Traffic can be divided between providers according to regional speed, available capacity or outage conditions. Image processing, URL routing, authentication and custom business logic can remain consistent across the deployment. This approach is especially useful for broadcasters, streaming companies and international services that cannot depend on a single CDN in every geographic market.

The Storage Optimization System and Dedicated Cache products reduce repeated requests to the origin by reserving cache capacity for important content. Protected objects can maintain a 100% cache-hit ratio, lowering cloud egress costs, origin-server load, video buffering and exposure to sudden traffic spikes. Dedicated VOD caching applies the same concept to large video libraries and keeps frequently requested media close to viewers.

Object Storage is S3-compatible and integrated with the CacheFly delivery environment. It supports scalable bucket-based storage without separate request, ingress or egress charges. The service works well for media archives, software packages, backups and other unstructured content. Customers can manage multiple storage accounts, buckets, limits and usage records through the CacheFly portal. CDN traffic remains separately chargeable unless included within a larger commercial agreement.

Smart Image Optimization automatically resizes, compresses and converts images according to the requesting device. This reduces page weight and improves mobile performance without requiring customers to maintain many manually generated image versions.

EdgeControl provides lightweight JavaScript execution near end users. It can handle redirects, URL rewriting, header changes, routing, authentication, access restrictions and custom responses. A sandbox environment is included with the Adoption tier, while full production use begins with the Production package.

Media delivery remains one of CacheFly’s strongest areas. The Ultra-Low-Latency Video platform supports HLS, DASH, WebSockets, adaptive bitrate streaming, HTML5 playback, live-to-VOD, DVR, transcoding, transmuxing, captions, ad insertion and geographic or language-based playback controls. Contribution protocols include RTMP, RTMPS and SRT. The platform can support events with more than one million concurrent viewers and targets sub-second video startup.

The Gaming CDN handles game launches, installers, patches and other sudden high-volume releases. Dedicated capacity, origin shielding, edge TLS termination and traffic analytics prevent the publisher’s own infrastructure from becoming the main bottleneck. Edge TLS termination can improve startup performance by as much as 70%, while permanent caching can remove origin dependence for critical game files.

Additional capabilities include real-time log streaming, advanced analytics, WebSocket delivery, Web Application Firewall protection, DDoS mitigation, automated SSL certificates, API access, Terraform integration and Prometheus-compatible monitoring. Governance customers can add SSO, role-based access control, audit logs, private network interconnections, dedicated nodes and compliance options.

The interface is available in English and public prices are displayed in U.S. dollars. The website and management portal use a modern responsive layout suitable for both desktop and mobile access.
