📄 Editorial Review

Arkku.net is a small Finnish internet and web hosting provider with roots going back to 2003. The business operates from Tampere, Finland, under Finnish Business ID 1958286-4 and VAT number FI19582864.

Its commercial hosting range follows a traditional shared-hosting model rather than the VPS, dedicated-server, reseller, or large managed-cloud approach used by many larger providers. The service is therefore mainly suited to personal websites, associations, small organizations, and modest business websites that need conventional PHP, MySQL, email, FTP, and domain hosting.

The main paid hosting products are Arkku Mini, Arkku Pro, and Arkku Business. Each plan includes use of the customer's own domain, while disk space, recommended traffic, email accounts, databases, and subdomains increase between the three packages.

Arkku Mini includes 500 MB disk space, approximately 5 GB recommended monthly traffic, one email account, one database, and no additional subdomains. Its resources are modest by current shared-hosting standards, but the package can still handle a simple informational website, small PHP project, or lightweight personal site.

Arkku Pro increases the allocation to 2 GB storage and approximately 20 GB recommended monthly traffic, together with three email accounts, two databases, and five subdomains. It provides a more practical balance for a conventional small website that needs several mailboxes or separate site sections.

Arkku Business offers 10 GB disk space, approximately 100 GB recommended monthly traffic, 50 email accounts, 10 databases, and 10 subdomains. It is the largest conventional web hosting package available from Arkku, although its disk allocation remains considerably smaller than the quotas normally associated with modern high-capacity shared hosting.

The hosting environment includes PHP, MySQL, FTP, email, webmail, phpMyAdmin, statistics, and ordinary website-management functions. Arkku also continues to operate a free web-space service with 50 MB storage, unlimited traffic, PHP support, .htaccess, MySQL, FTP, and access to its hosting management system.

A particularly unusual part of Arkku is the range of community-oriented services that has survived from an earlier generation of internet hosting. Its free IRC Bouncer keeps IRC connections active while the user's computer is offline, stores private messages, supports selectable virtual hosts, and has its own management interface.

A free Mumble server is also available with full administration rights and normally supports around 30 simultaneous users, with larger allocations possible when necessary. TeamSpeak-related access is available through the Voippi.fi service.

SSL certificates can be added to websites hosted on Arkku servers. The certificate service includes certificate provisioning, installation, and maintenance and is intended specifically for websites using Arkku's hosting platform.

Domain services cover extensions such as .fi, .com, .net, .org, .info, .us, .biz, and .eu. Existing domains can also be transferred using the required authorization or registrar-transfer code. Registration-data privacy is available for supported extensions for an additional annual fee, although this option does not apply to .fi domains.

Periodic backups are maintained for systems and customer data, although customers remain responsible for keeping independent copies of important content. Security measures include encrypted administrative connections, network firewalling, and filtering intended to reduce harmful email traffic.

The service is clearly oriented toward Finland. The website, ordering process, documentation, and customer service are primarily in Finnish, and no multi-language/localized version exists. Prices are presented in EUR.

The overall interface has a traditional appearance that reflects Arkku's long history. Its structure is more reminiscent of established hosting communities and forums than modern cloud dashboards, but the necessary hosting, account, support, and administration functions remain accessible.
