*📜 Plan description
Free is the no-cost alwaysdata public cloud plan intended for personal and non-profit use. It is advertised as valid without a time limit and without advertising, with 1 GB of SSD storage offered as a gift, 256 MB RAM and 1/4 CPU share. The plan includes 3 rolling days of backups and can be used to test the platform without a recurring hosting price. It keeps access to the same technical ecosystem as the Plus family, but the free account is restricted compared with paid production hosting: documentation notes that the Free plan cannot be used for profit purposes and website creation is limited to the account's alwaysdata.net address. Email can still be associated with domain names, and the account can be upgraded to a paid offer when more resources or production use are required. Registration is promoted as free and the plan is positioned as a way to evaluate the managed platform before moving to Plus or Max.
alwaysdata runs the Free and Plus environments as a managed Public Cloud service: the account is hosted on a shared cloud platform while the system stack, security updates, database services, web server layers and operational monitoring are handled by the provider. The platform is designed for unlimited sites, email addresses and databases on paid Plus plans, with SSH, SFTP, FTP, WebDAV, scheduled tasks, background services, an API and an in-house administration interface for configuration. The software environment is based on Debian Linux x64 and supports many runtimes, including PHP, Python, Ruby, Node.js, Java, Go, Rust, Deno, Elixir, Lua and .NET, with selectable versions and automatic minor-version maintenance for major tracks. Managed databases include MariaDB/MySQL and PostgreSQL, with RabbitMQ also available, while email features include mailboxes, aliases, filtering rules, anti-spam, autoresponder and webmail. SSL is available without extra cost through Let's Encrypt, including wildcard use where suitable, and domain/DNS automation can create records for services while advanced DNS editing remains available. The public cloud service includes daily backups retained for the plan's rolling backup window, and the disk quota includes files, mail and databases. The public cloud SLA information lists GRT of 1 hour, MTTR of 4 hours and 99.7% availability. Infrastructure is hosted in France, mainly in the Paris region, on alwaysdata-owned servers and networking equipment, with RAID1 SSDs, IPv6 support, paired network equipment, multiple network operators, anti-DDoS level 3/4 protection and a responsible hosting policy based on French low-carbon electricity, limited stock and environmental offsetting. Payment methods include credit card, PayPal and bank transfer, with invoices debited from a prepaid account or via direct debit. Support for Public Cloud is ticket based through the administration interface, with sales phone contact during business hours.

📄 Editorial Review
alwaysdata is a French managed cloud hosting provider headquartered in Paris, with company roots going back to 2006. The business operates under ALWAYSDATA SARL and has a clear developer-oriented profile rather than the usual low-cost cPanel hosting approach. Its strongest fit is for customers who want managed infrastructure, flexible application hosting, mail, domains, databases, DNS, SSL, backups, and support under one European hosting account. The main product range is built around Free, Plus, and Max hosting. Free works well for testing, small personal projects, and lightweight non-commercial use. Plus is the public cloud hosting range for regular websites, web apps, databases, and email. Max is the private cloud / dedicated managed environment for heavier projects that need guaranteed resources, high availability options, managed architecture, and stronger support coverage.
Plus Hosting is especially attractive because it is not limited to one CMS or one scripting language. The platform supports PHP, Python, Ruby, Node.js, Java, Go, Rust, Deno, Elixir, .NET, Lua, and other custom runtimes through user programs. This gives alwaysdata a stronger appeal for developers, agencies, SaaS prototypes, custom web applications, and technical teams that need more flexibility than standard shared hosting normally provides.
The service includes unlimited websites, unlimited databases, unlimited email addresses, SSH access, managed databases, free SSL certificates, DNS management, scheduled tasks, custom services, backups, and an application marketplace. The marketplace covers many common web applications and frameworks, including Django, Flask, Laravel, Rails, Next.js, Express.js, Drupal, Joomla, PrestaShop, Magento, Matomo, Moodle, and many other CMS, e-commerce, analytics, development, storage, media, forum, and project-management tools.
Domain services are also part of the ecosystem. Customers can register domains, transfer domains, manage external domains, use alwaysdata DNS, activate DNSSEC, and use free SSL certificates through Let’s Encrypt. Domain registrations rely on Gandi as registrar reseller infrastructure, while DNS is handled through alwaysdata nameservers.
alwaysdata is not a cheap unlimited cPanel host and it is not a simple WordPress-only provider. Its profile is closer to a managed European developer cloud, where system administration, language versions, databases, SSL, backups, email, DNS, and scaling are handled through a proprietary control panel and API. Customers who need root-level unmanaged VPS control, Windows hosting, or standard cPanel/Plesk familiarity may find the platform less conventional. Customers who value managed operations, European hosting, open-source tooling, and language flexibility will likely find it more attractive.
The website is available in English and French, and pricing is displayed in EUR excluding VAT. The design is modern, clean, documentation-heavy, and suitable for current desktop and mobile browsing.
