📄 Editorial Review

24Shells is a privately owned U.S. hosting and network-infrastructure company established in 2003 and headquartered in Piscataway, New Jersey. Tushit Shah is the founder and CEO, while Dun & Bradstreet identifies him as the company president and key principal. The company operates its own network under AS55081 and has infrastructure presence across North America and Europe.

24Shells is considerably more infrastructure-oriented than a conventional shared hosting company. Its active portfolio centers on Dedicated Servers, Managed Dedicated Servers, High Bandwidth Servers, Colocation, IP Transit, and Wavelength connectivity. VPS, private cloud, public cloud, and virtualization services have also formed part of its wider hosting and infrastructure portfolio.

Dedicated Servers are available in Piscataway, New Jersey; Los Angeles, California; Montreal, Canada; and London, United Kingdom. Hardware ranges from older Intel Xeon E3 systems suitable for smaller workloads to powerful single- and dual-socket AMD EPYC servers with as many as 128 cores and 256 threads. Entry configurations commonly include 32 GB RAM, HDD or SSD storage, 20 TB monthly transfer, five IP addresses, and IPMI access. Larger EPYC systems add NVMe storage, higher memory capacities, and 30 TB transfer allocations.

Dedicated servers can be ordered as self-managed or fully managed. Self-managed configurations are better suited to experienced administrators who want unrestricted control, while managed service adds operating-system, control-panel, and infrastructure assistance. Server configurations are highly customizable, with options for additional RAM, multiple storage drives, RAID, extra IP addresses, backup storage, operating systems, control panels, management levels, and network upgrades.

High Bandwidth Servers are one of the strongest parts of the portfolio. These dedicated systems combine substantial processing resources with unlimited traffic and network capacities ranging through 10 Gbps, 20 Gbps, 40 Gbps, and 100 Gbps. Hardware ranges from Intel Xeon E5 systems to modern AMD EPYC and dual-EPYC platforms. These configurations are particularly suitable for CDN nodes, streaming, large download platforms, mirrors, content distribution, data processing, and other bandwidth-intensive applications where conventional transfer quotas would be restrictive.

Colocation is available from individual servers through quarter, half, and full racks. Piscataway has the broadest range, including 1U, 2U, 4U, quarter-rack, half-rack, and full-rack configurations. Los Angeles, Montreal, and London focus primarily on larger rack deployments. Colocation includes network connectivity, power, physical security, and remote-hands assistance, with larger configurations supporting high-capacity network connectivity.

The 24Shells Connect IP Transit service is aimed at hosting companies, ISPs, cloud operators, content networks, and businesses operating their own network infrastructure. It uses a 100G backbone architecture with RPKI, IPv4, IPv6, direct peering, and multiple upstream networks. Capacity options range from 1 Gbps through 10, 20, 50, 100, and 200 Gbps unmetered commitments.

24Shells Surf provides optical wavelength connectivity for organizations requiring dedicated point-to-point transport. It supports 10G, 40G, and 100G wavelengths, using dark-fiber infrastructure and PAM4 technology for routes of approximately 80 km. The Piscataway network includes diverse paths toward major New Jersey and New York carrier facilities, including 165 Halsey and 60 Hudson.

Dedicated-server customers can add backup storage through FTP or R1Soft. Available capacities range from relatively small backup allocations to several terabytes, while supported RAID configurations include RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, and 10 depending on the selected server hardware.

The service interface and customer portal operate in English and prices are denominated in USD. Some older information remains alongside newer infrastructure offers. High-bandwidth pricing has appeared with conflicting starting values, while Toronto has remained referenced in some company information even though Montreal is used for the current Canadian server location. The detailed server configurator therefore provides the most relevant pricing and configuration information for new orders.

Some legal and technical documentation also originates from earlier stages of the company. Terms still contain references to shared and reseller hosting, the Acceptable Use Policy dates back to 2004, and the Privacy Policy was last updated in 2015. Customers ordering modern dedicated infrastructure should therefore pay particular attention to the current service configuration, SLA, and billing conditions applying to their selected product.
