Dec 9, 2003 : NCSoft Austin to Colocate with Equinix

(equinix.com), a provider of network-neutral data centers and Internet exchange services, said on Monday that NCsoft Austin, the US subsidiary of Korea-based online gaming company NCSoft, has chosen Equinix to provide the infrastructure supporting the deployment of NCsoft's online games. Under the agreement, NCsoft Austin will move its infrastructure operations into Equinix's Los Angeles and Washington, DC area Internet business Exchange (IBX) centers.

According to Equinix, the company was selected because its network-rich Internet hubs provide access to the large aggregation of networks and service providers operating out of its IBX centers. By connecting directly, NCsoft can reduce its transit costs and improve performance for its online gaming enthusiasts, Equinix said.
"With the surging growth of online gaming, NCsoft and other gaming companies that require the highest levels of network connectivity are finding Equinix's comprehensive aggregation of network providers and carriers an attractive solution for the hosting of their IT operations," said Peter Van Camp, CEO of Equinix. "There is no better alternative to Equinix's neutral Internet hubs and exchange services for businesses that rely on the Internet."
The company said there could be expansions to additional centers.
