Its new market ranking also shows a less orderly industry underneath that expansion, as AI demand, hyperscale self-build, power shortages and connectivity increasingly separate scale from maturity across markets.
The projections, contained in Structure Research's 2026 Global Data Centre Colocation & Interconnection Report, suggest an industry adding roughly 149GW of operational critical IT capacity within five years.
