Feb 27, 2004 : Digital River Expands Hosting Contracts
📅 - E-commerce outsourcing provider Digital River (digitalriver.com) announced on Thursday that it has expanded the e-commerce operations of two of its online channel partners, LatchLogic.com (latchlogic.com) and SoftwareGeek (softwaregeek.com).
Under the agreements, Digital River built try-before-you-buy (TBYB) software stores for each of the software retailers' e-commerce sites, allowing both LatchLogic.com and SoftwareGeek to sell Digital River's TBYB software to their own respective customer bases. Digital River will provide Web hosting and access to its TBYB software catalog in addition to payment processing, fraud, customer service, reporting and digital downloads for the software programs.
"Building our online sales network continues to be an important growth strategy for us," says Dave Alampi, vice president of marketing for Digital River. "Today we have more than 600 online channel partners. By leveraging our TBYB sales model and software catalog, we can help our online channel partners generate site traffic, create new revenue streams and increase customer loyalty. Our TBYB sales model offers an efficient way for our online channel partners to grow their businesses."
Under the TBYB model, customers can download software free for a limited time with the option of purchasing them at a later date.
"Using Digital River's TBYB sales model and opening this new store has been a win-win situation for our customers and our company," says John Worth, proprietor of LatchLogic.com. "TBYB presents a great opportunity for customers to explore their software interests without risk. This new offering will help us grow our business while providing our customers a larger selection of software titles."
Jessica Baxter, CEO of SoftwareGeek, said her company would also derive benefits from the TBYB model. "By offering Digital River's TBYB software catalog to our customers, we can present them with a great opportunity to get a feel for software before they purchase it," says Baxter. "The new TBYB store provides our customers another reason to shop on our site, making it more compelling to visit time and again. We are already finding that the new TBYB store is helping us drive additional traffic through our site."
