Mar 1, 2004 : Apache, Microsoft Remain on Top


📅 - Apache and Microsoft continue to hold the two largest shares of the Web server market with Apache experiencing a slight loss of market share and Microsoft adding subtle gains, according to research and analysis firm Netcraft's (netcraft.com) March Web server survey.

According to the survey's results, Apache held 67.20 percent of the total Web server market, down .01 percent from the previous month. In contrast, Microsoft's share of the market grew from 20.88 to 21.02 percent, an increase of .14 percent. SunONE and Zeus also lost ground last month, losing .07 and .01 percent, leaving their total market shares at 3.44 and 1.59 percent respectively.
Netcraft's monthly Web server survey measures Web server software usage on Internet connected computers and featured results based on an aggregate pool this month of 48,038,131 sites.
