📅 March 5, 2004 - N|Frame (nframe.com), the managed services division of data center services outsourcer One Call Internet, announced on Friday that it has opened a new $2 million, 15,000 square-foot data center facility. The company said that it will be delivering work group recovery services from the new facility, helping companies mitigate risk and preparing them for operational interruptions.

According to N|Frame, work group recovery is the process of reviving critical business operations after an operational interruption, providing business with an alternate site where they can operate in a replicated environment.
"Work group recovery is a strong complement to our other business services. It allows companies to mitigate the risks associated with short-term and long-term interruptions, from air conditioning or heating failure to structural damage," says Robert J. Alcorn, chief operating officer of n|Frame. "Our new work group recovery services offer displaced businesses an alternate site of operation that is configured to immediately support their network, communications and human resource needs. We now have the infrastructure and professional resources in place to effectively support all of these requirements."
The new data center facility is based in Indianapolis.

Based on the terms of the settlement, a multi-contract under which Level 3 is to purchase wholesale dial access services from Allegiance, will be terminated. 📅 Mar 8, 2004 - HP to Unveil Slimmer Blade Servers - Hewlett-Packard (hp.com) is set to unveil a new line of blade servers on Monday, several reports say. The new servers, the BL30p, will be the smallest yet in HP's BL line of blade servers. Blade servers are much smaller and "thinned-down" server systems that fit in a chassis that provides power and network connections shared by all the blades. The BL30p, set to ship in June, is powered by Intel Xeon processors and supports both Windows and Linux. As many as 16 systems are able to fit in a chassis 10.5 inches tall. HP has not yet provided pricing or specifications.
