Aug 2, 2007 : Hostway CustomersOffline in Shift
📅 - A mass of Digg postings and a few hastily assembled blogs served to point out a server migration gone wrong this week, as Hostway customers reported that their Web sites had been down for days during a scheduled move.
Hostway, which acquired Affinity Internet in April, had planned to move more than 3,700 servers from Affinity's hosting facility in Miami to a Hostway data center in Tampa, Florida.
The company warned customers that an outage could last between 12 and 15 hours as servers were moved. But on July 30, many customers were reporting that their sites were still offline. It is not clear precisely how many customers were affected.
Among the complaints, customers have said they have been unable to reach Hostway's technical support lines, and that they had not received any email updates on the situation.
