Mar, 2004 : Hosting Controller Unveils New Tutorials

📅 March 16, 2004 - Advanced Communications (advcomm.net), a developer of Windows hosting automation software, has introduced a second series of voice-enabled flash tutorials for Hosting Controller, its flagship Web hosting control panel.

The second series of tutorials follow the original series of 29 tutorials released last month. The first series covered the Web Admin operations of Hosting Controller while the new series covers the Host and Reseller Admin operations. The company said the tutorials have become very popular and received widespread positive feedback.
"Customers don't like to read help manuals or Knowledgebase. They always find it boring and prefer to call you instead for even the basic questions. This only increases your support calls... and there is no real solution for this dilemma," says Syed Nauman Hashmi, CEO of Advanced Communications. "Keeping this in view, we developed voice-enabled flash tutorials which will guide the customer to actually watch and listen how the things are done, rather than reading the help manuals or searching the Knowledgebase."
The tutorials are available free on the company's Web site and are downloadable, free of cost, in zip format.
Earlier this month, Advanced Communications released a Russian version of Hosting Controller version 6.0.

📅 Mar 17, 2004 - Regulations.gov Spoofed in Phishing Scam - According to a report published on Tuesday by UK-based research and analysis firm Netcraft (netcraft.com), "phishing" scams are now spoofing Regulations.gov, a Web site operated by the US government. Phishing attacks, reportedly on the rise in recent months, involve the mass distribution of "spoofed" or forged emails which appear to come from legitimate sources but are designed to lead recipients towards fraudulent Web sites and trick them into disclosing sensitive personal data such as credit card numbers. Netcraft said the scam attempts to replicate a fraudulent version of the regulations.gov Web site, using it to steal credit card data and other sensitive information.
