📅 - Data center and Internet exchange services provider Equinix (equinix.com) announced this week that email security and management company Postini Inc. will move part of its IT infrastructure from a carrier-owned data center to Equinix's Chicago Internet Business Exchange (IBX) center.
Equinix says the move will enable Postini to enhance its redundancy and disaster recovery operations using the high-performance infrastructure and large aggregation of networks available in its centers. Postini's Preemptive Email Protection technology is a managed service that handles enterprise email system security and management, offering spam and virus filtering, content and policy management, disaster recovery and protection from attacks. The service guarantees 99.999 percent availability, requiring a high-performance infrastructure that relies on multiple network service providers. "As new malicious email attacks are developed every day, it is imperative that we have the most reliable and high performance IT infrastructure to support our enterprise customers," said Scott Petry, vice president of products and engineering at Postini. "After reviewing a variety of alternatives, including carrier-owned data centers, we determined that Equinix's neutral centers and the aggregation of networks that they offer, provided the best option to enhance the redundancy of our IT operations."
