Apr 13, 2004 : BEA, Veritas in Data Center Deal
📅 - Utility computing software company Veritas (veritas.com) and application infrastructure software firm BEA Systems (bea.com) announced on Tuesday that they have formed a global partnership intended to allow customers to deploy enterprise applications on the first open, heterogeneous utility computing platform.
The joint offering will include versions of Veritas Indepth for J2EE application performance management software, Veritas ClusterServer high availability solution and Veritas OpForce server provisioning software integrated with BEA WebLogic and Tuxedo platforms. The integrated offering is designed to work with all major operating systems, hardware and enterprise applications, say the companies.
Delivering high IT service levels is becoming critical to business success, say the companies, as organizations deploy application services to automate critical business functions. Integrating BEAs service-oriented infrastructure with Veritas's utility computing software building blocks, they say, will allow for increased re-usability of application services, increased performance and availability, greater IT adaptability and simplified management, which may ultimately reduce operation costs.
"While enterprises struggle to bring their operations costs down, demands on IT to serve more users with greater agility is going up," said Tod Nielsen, executive vice president, BEA Systems. "We have expanded our relationship with VERITAS to respond to the challenges of our customers' computing demands to help ensure that their applications are provisioned to take advantage of their available resources, at a lower cost, in order to responsively meet business demand."
