Jul 26, 2004 : Zend Launches PHP Certification Program

📅 July 26, 2004 - Zend Technologies (zend.com), which released PHP 5 last week, announced on Monday that it has launched the Zend PHP certification program, to be offered through the mobile testing facility it is hosting at The O'Reilly Open Source Convention on July 26-30 in Portland, Oregon.

The program covers curriculum criteria specified by the Zend PHP Education Advisory Board, an organization established by PHP experts to create a certification program that will set industry standards for recognizing and certifying PHP expertise. The PHP Education Advisory Board includes Marcus Boerger, John Coggeshall, Andi Gutmans, Martin Jansen, Daniel Kushner, Derick Rethans, George Schlossnagle, Damien Seguy, Chris Shiflett, David Sklar, Zeev Suraski, and Marco Tabini.
"Our mission at Zend is to provide the tools, resources and community that will make PHP viable for the enterprise," says Andi Gutmans, co-founder and vice president of technology at Zend. "As part of this effort, we want to ensure that developers have access to everything they will need to build robust, business-critical PHP applications. The Zend Certified Engineer credential helps developers get their resumes noticed, gain recognition from employers and differentiate themselves from non-certified developers."
Zend has also expanded its online resources for PHP developers with the introduction of the Zend Education Center, an online source where developers and employers can access PHP training resources, certification news and information on career development.
