According to Peak 10, its emergency plan ensures five key functions. They include guarantees to work with customers to ensure disaster recovery plans are in place, provision of a secure facility, interconnectivity, twenty-four hour, seven day a week data center coverage and availability, and disaster recovery and business continuity consulting and services to current customers and those in need of temporary space.
The company is monitoring all severe weather threats from its emergency management command center in Charlotte, North Carolina and has also activated an online disaster recovery resource center on its Web site. The resource center will include company announcements, weather information, links, a detailed disaster preparedness checklist, and contact information.
"Peak 10 and its four data centers are committed to ensuring the availability, security and integrity of critical data and applications 24 hours a day, 7 days a week," says David Jones, founder and president for Peak 10. "This commitment doesn't waiver in the event of hurricane or other natural disaster. Our centers are prepared and we are also offering temporary assistance to help other businesses protect their data and applications in advance of Ivan."
According to reports, Hurricane Ivan is headed for Jamaica, where 500,000 people have been told to leave their homes. The US National Hurricane Center says Ivan and its 240km/h winds could hit Cuba and the Florida Keys by late Sunday. Peak 10 operates data centers in Jacksonville and Tampa, Florida and Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina.
Peak 10 also put an emergency management plan in place for Hurricane Frances, which hit the Florida coast last week.
