The completion of the 15,400 square-foot facility will bring Tampa's total data center footprint to more than 30,000 square feet.

The news follows last week's announcement where Peak 10 reported is experiencing steady growth, with its 2008 managed services and data center buildout investments already paying dividends.

In November, Peak 10 expanded its data center in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Like all of its facilities, Peak 10's new Tampa data center is built with multiple levels of security, uninterruptible power, HVAC systems, fire suppression and around-the-clock monitoring and management.

The SAS70 Type II compliant facility is interconnected with Peak 10's private network.

As a result, customers are provided with highly available Internet access and the ability to use data centers in eight other markets in implementing disaster recovery solutions.

"Our facility expansion is a direct result of our steady growth and success in the Tampa Bay area," says Debra Curtiss, vice president and general manager of Peak 10 Tampa. "It will help us meet the current and future demand for our customized services. As we continue to invest in our infrastructure, our valued customers can enjoy the most current state-of-the-art facilities while receiving the expertise and attention they have come to expect from our dedicated team."

To ensure an unparalleled level of stability and facility integrity, the new Tampa facility underwent a formal commissioning process prior to customer installations.

Peak 10 hired a facilities engineering and IT consulting firm whose name is not disclosed in the press release.

The company performed multiple and repeatable test cycles using equipment that simulates how Peak 10's new data center operates at various load levels and failover conditions.

In addition to the new Tampa data center, Peak 10 owns and operates data centers in Cincinnati, Atlanta, Raleigh and Charlotte, North Carolina, Jacksonville, Florida, Nashville, Louisville, Kentucky, and Richmond, Virginia.
