Nov 2, 2004 : VitalStream Offers SDK for Flash Users
📅 - Streaming media and Web hosting provider VitalStream (vitalstream.com -> inap.com) announced on Tuesday that it has made the new MediaOps Software Development Kit exclusively available to customers using its Flash video streaming services.
According to VitalStream, the new SDK was developed to help companies speed the development and deployment of Macromedia Flash over the Internet. The kit features drag and drop components with point and click configuration for playlists, ad serve integration and other enhancements. Other benefits include a lightweight footprint of under 12K, support for Flash Player 6 or higher and integration into VitalStream's content delivery network. The kit also includes a fully documented Flash media player API for advanced developers.
"Being the first content delivery network to deliver the Flash video streaming service has given us a tremendous advantage over the competition," says Paul Summers, president and chief executive officer of VitalStream. "Over the last year, we have gained valuable experience and feedback from our larger customers and Macromedia. Our new MediaOps SDK is a direct result of this teamwork."
Flash technology, developed by Macromedia (macromedia.com), is used to create vector graphics-based animation programs.
"Macromedia Flash is making tremendous inroads online as more companies want to deliver video more effectively and unobtrusively to their site visitors," says Chris Hock, director of product marketing at Macromedia. "VitalStream has put a tremendous amount of resources into making it easy for customers to get up and running with Flash video, and their roster of name-brand customers shows how their efforts are clearly resonating within the industry."
