D-Link, Sierra, VitalStream Launch Online Gaming Tournament
📅 - D-Link (dlink.com), a developer of networking and communications solutions, Sierra (sierra.com), one of the largest publishers of interactive entertainment and VitalStream, Inc. (vitalstream.com -> inap.com), a leading provider for digital broadcasting today announced that they have formed an alliance to support free tournaments of Sierra's recently introduced Tribes 2 online game.
The first of these open tournaments will launch July 28th. Players canenter to win up to $30,000 in prizes, such as D-Link MP3 Players, D-LinkNetworking Kits, signed copies of Tribes 2, and Tribes 2 Summer Games 2001t-shirts. "Summer Games 2001" will consist of a series of weekend onlinecompetitions throughout the summer, ending September 1st. The winners ofthese weekend tournaments will win prizes and earn a spot in the "Tournamentof Champions" at the end of the summer.
Players will compete in the tournament by playing Sierra's Tribes 2 PC game.Tribes 2 was selected as the centerpiece of the Summer Games 2001 for itsability to support team combat.
The three companies each have a unique contribution to the project. D-Linkprovides prizes and high performance networking, communications,connectivity, access devices and intruder protection solutions. Sierradelivers the entertainment content, and VitalStream is delivering thehigh-bandwidth environment in which to play.
