📅 - Florida-based Web hosting provider NetMart.com (netmart.com) announced this week that it will be celebrating 10 years in business next month.
A decade ago, three recently graduated university students formed the company with $1000.00 of start-up capital. On December 1, 1994, NetMart.com opened for business by connecting an ISDN modem to a desktop computer in the basement office of their parents" home. Three years of consistent growth would eventually lead to new offices and a new data center, all funded from revenue earned by the company. "When you think about it, it was a really crazy idea to try and run this out of a basement office with no money to speak of," says founding partner Norman Goldberg. "To us it was a shot in the dark. We had no money, and built the business on simple word of mouth. Within three months we were turning a profit, and 10 years later we haven't missed a beat."
