Dec 1, 2004 : Web Server Market Stable, Netcraft Says


📅 - There was modest change in the Web server market over the last month, according to research and analysis firm Netcraft's (netcraft.com) December Web server survey.

Netcraft's survey showed that Apache gained market share, rising from 67.77 to 67.84 percent, while Microsoft lost ground, dropping from 21.25 to 21.19 percent. The percentages translate into 38,614,673 sites running on Apache and 12,062,761 running on Microsoft.
In other platforms, SunOne gained ground again this month, going from 3.14 to 3.18 percent and Zeus dropped from 1.32 to 1.21 percent market share.
Netcraft's monthly Web server survey measures Web server software usage on all Internet connected computers. The December 2004 survey received responses from 56,923,737 sites, representing a gain of 808,722 sites over the previous month. According to Netcraft, the Internet has grown at a near-record pace in 2004, averaging 911,000 new sites per month.
