Dec 2, 2004 : HP, VERITAS Partner for HP Unix Servers

📅 December 2, 2004 - Hewlett-Packard (hp.com) has named VERITAS Software Corporation's (veritas.com) products its preferred file system and volume management solutions for HP-UX 11i environments, the companies announced on Thursday.

Under the multi-year agreement between the two companies, HP will deploy VERITAS Storage Foundation products in order to extend the virtualization and high availability of HP-UX 11i and HP Serviceguard software and ease customer evolution to standards-based HP Integrity and HP 9000 servers. The companies also plan to integrate key products, including VERITAS Storage Foundation Cluster File System and Storage Foundation for Oracle RAC, with HP Serviceguard. HP Serviceguard protects applications from a wide range of hardware and software failures.
HP said the integrated solutions will be key elements of the HP Virtual Server Environment for HP-UX 11i, increasing system utilization and availability. HP said it plans to expand the VSE with a single view, providing common management and optimization of virtualized server and storage resources.
"Our collaboration with VERITAS helps us to deliver on our Adaptive Enterprise strategy and assists our UNIX customers in their evolution to next-generation platforms," says Rich Marcello, senior vice president and general manager of Business Critical Servers at HP. "The thousands of customers running HP Serviceguard on HP-UX 11i today will gain access to VERITAS software - directly from HP - and close integration, a simplified purchasing process and cooperative support."

New York Internet was followed in the top ten by Pair Networks, Secure Dog Hosting and Express Technologies. Rackspace, iPowerWeb and INetU were the fifth, sixth and seventh most reliable sites.
