Dec 10, 2004 : Google IDC in Georgia, Report Says

📅 - According to a report by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, search giant Google (http://www.google.com) is set to open a data center in the Douglas Country industrial park in Georgia.

Google's impending move to Georgia has reportedly been extremely quiet. There is no sign or company logo on the building Google is said to be moving into.
According to the report, Georgia state officials have also not made any announcements, which they have been known to do when companies move to Georgia. State officials would only confirm that Google has not applied to the state for any tax incentives, the report said.
Douglas County's economic development team has offered Google property tax breaks, the report said, however there has been no word on whether Google has accepted them or not. A representative for the economic development department did say that Google has been offered other "financial incentives."
A Google spokesperson interviewed for the report would only say that the company has a significant sales staff in Atlanta and some other operations. There was no mention of a data center.
A search of "Google and data center and Douglas County" in Google's own search engine turned up a November 4, 2004 regional economic development report that made mention of Google's choice of Douglas County for a $300 million data center, the report said.
Google reportedly has 100 employees in the data center.
