Jan 4, 2005 : Microsoft Suit Against Host Dismissed

📅 January 4, 2005 - Web hosting provider C I Host (cihost.com -> hostinger.com) said on Monday that a federal judge has dismissed a longstanding lawsuit Microsoft (microsoft.com) had filed against it.

Microsoft originally filed suit against C I Host in November 2003, alleging that the company had used Microsoft software in its hosting business without procuring the proper licenses. C I host countered the allegations, reportedly accusing Microsoft of defamation and misleading marketing tactics.
After a prolonged legal battle, the two companies were ordered to reach settlement. On Monday, C I Host said that a deal has been consummated, confirming that the company would become licensed under Microsoft's Service Provider Licensing Agreement. CEO Christoper Faulkner said he could not elaborate on any further details.
"Even though we were the underdog, we expected a positive outcome all along, so at C I Host we are ecstatic that the court dismissed the case," says Faulkner. "This is great news, and it is a fantastic way to build momentum for 2005. We look forward to proceeding with our hosting plans under the agreement."
