Over the weekend, C I Host's load balancing solution ensured that Wall Homes' website stayed online after it was flooded by visitors following the airing of ABC's Sunday night program, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, in which Wall Homes was the featured builder.
Proper load balancing lets servers handle roughly twice the amount of typical traffic for applications, web services and e-mail. This increase in availability means customer sites stay up even if one server experiences a failure. Service Health Checking detects service performance and re-routes traffic to the other server in the event of failure, preventing downtime.
