📅 - An al-Qaida linked Web site promoting attacks on the US was discovered among the more than 100,000 Web sites hosted by Web hosting provider SiteGenie (sitegenie.com).
According to reports, the Egypt-based Al-Thabitoun Ala Al-Ahd Web site was tracked down on the company's 400 servers after it made its way there through one of SiteGenie's resellers. The Web site had an article titled "How to Join al-Qaida," which encouraged every Muslim to regard jihad as a personal duty. The site has been taken down.
SiteGenie owner Scott Litke commented that there is no way for a hosting provider like SiteGenie to monitor the content being uplpaded by the customers of each of its resellers before it reaches the Web. He is also concerned about how his business will be affected with the national coverage this incident has received.
This is the second time this summer that SiteGenie was used through a third party to host a Jihadist Web site, which was also removed once it was identified.
