Mar 8, 2005 : WIDE Project Moves to 200 Paul Avenue
📅 - Digital Realty Trust (digitalrealtytrust.com), a manager and operator of technology-related properties, announced on Tuesday that research consortium WIDE Project had selected the San Francisco-based 200 Paul Avenue Internet gateway and colocation facility as a new node in its worldwide network and moved its West Coast distance education studio there.
"200 Paul Avenue is the ideal site for this kind of distance education studio because of the availability of fiber, Internet transit and peering services, which provide the infrastructure necessary to support the advanced video and data technologies used in the studio," says Dr. Akira Kato, board member of WIDE Project and associate professor at the University of Tokyo. "WIDE Project is very pleased to be working with Digital Realty to accommodate our global infrastructure and distance education studio."
The company says moving to 200 Paul Avenue will facilitate distance education between San Francisco and classrooms across the world.
"WIDE Project's selection of 200 Paul Avenue as a core node on its global network is an affirmation that Digital Realty Trust's Internet Gateway facilities are truly world-class," says Michael F. Foust, chief executive officer of Digital Realty Trust. "Even more rewarding is WIDE Project's decision to host its distance learning lab at our San Francisco facility because the lab will play a vital role in supporting educational exchanges between universities throughout the world."
