Apr 28, 2005 : New York Magazine Moves to Equinix IDC

📅 April 28, 2005 - Data center and Internet exchange operator Equinix (equinix.com) announced on Wednesday that it will host New York magazine's entire Web infrastructure out of its IBX center in Secaucus, New Jersey, bringing the total number of customers in Equinix Internet hubs to 1,000. The company says moving into its facility will enable New York magazine to access the service providers, networks and carriers operating out of its facilities, maximizing performance and reducing the cost and complexity of reaching service providers in multiple locations.
New York magazine made the move due to a change in corporate ownership. Joseph Galarneau, chief technology officer of New York magazine, says a sister company's positive experience with the New York-based IBX center was an important factor in its decision. "The fact that an established media company is our 1,000th customer is indicative of the continued growth for Equinix in the content and enterprise segments," says Peter Van Camp, CEO of Equinix. "Reaching and now surpassing the 1,000th customer mark is another important milestone in solidifying our market leadership position."
