📅 August 26, 2005 - The European Union cleared Sun Microsystems' (sun.com) acquisition of Storage Technology Corporation on Friday, according to a report by the Associated Press.
The EU's head office was reportedly satisfied that the overlaps between the two companies are limited and the combined company would face significant competition. Sun says it expects to complete the acquisition, valued at $4.1 billion, by late summer or early fall. The deal was announced in early June.
