The support staff members are given on job training and enrolled in various professional certification courses to improve their service levels and provide a wide range of support for their clients.
"Hiring local support staff can sometimes cost more than 10 times the cost of outsourcing technical support requirements," says Lim Boon Chuan, chief technical officer of 8 to Infinity. "But at 8 to Infinity, we consider our main assets to be our staff. Improvement in efficiency due to local support far outweighs the increase in costs."
Contrary to current market trends, 8 to Infinity plans to continue expanding its local technical support staff to increase its overall efficiency and provide better security control over their servers.
The company says the move was based on the understanding that hiring outsourced technical support would mean opening its servers to technicians from outside the company, which may have been opposed by customers.
