Dec 7, 2005 : Web Host Site5 Introduces Flashback
📅 - Web hosting provider Site5 Internet Solutions (site5.com👉 Total Reviews: 7 🙌 Average Rating: 2.4 / 10 👍 Good Reviews: 1 👎 Bad Reviews: 6 👈 Official Responses: 0) announced last week that it had introduced the file archiving technology Flashback for its shared and reseller hosting plans.
According to Site5, Flashback is an insurance policy for a Web hosting customer's entire set of files. Any time changes are made to a file, Flashback creates an archived version of the file. In the case of file corruption or loss, customers can restore to previous file versions automatically. Site5 says Flashback is better than typical backup solutions because it enables up-to-the-minute retrieval of files rather than versions that are archived on a daily basis.
"The ability to restore a file is a core feature, but users can also view old and new files side-by-side to see differences or enable syntax highlighting to quickly scan code in the online file editor," says Matt Lightner, co-founder and CEO of Site 5. "And in accordance with our commitment to supporting the Web 2.0 revolution, the Flashback user interface is intuitive, simple, and filled with AJAX-powered functionality where it serves to make user experience more enjoyable.
Flashback is available free for all Site5 customers until March 1, 2006. The company will then offer it as an optional feature for $2 a month.
